1915Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara-Çanakkale Highway, built by the partnership of DL E&C, Limak, SK ecoplant and Yapı Merkezi under the administration of the TR Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure General Directorate of Highways (KGM), continue to receive awards in global evaluations. The giant project, which is the pride of Turkey, was awarded the European Steel Bridge Award, which is given every two years by the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) to encourage the use of steel in today's modern bridges. In the evaluations made by the selection jury, the 1915Çanakkale Bridge was defined as a sister structure to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the new symbol of the region.

The 2023 Çanakkale Bridge, which has the title of 'the world's longest suspension bridge with a middle span of 334 meters' and 'the suspension bridge with the highest tower in the world' with its peak of 1915 meters, was named an important example of modern mega engineering by the European Structural Steel Association. The project was selected as the best in Europe in the Road and Railway Bridges Category.

In the evaluation of the jury, 1915Çanakkale Bridge, which connects Europe to Asia, was seen as a sister to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and was also referred to as the new symbol of the region.

One of the jury members, ECCS's first female board member, first female president, chaired twice within five years, ECCS Silver Medal and Charles Massonnet Science Award winner Prof. Dr. Nesrin Yardimir Tiryakioğlu made a statement about the award;

“The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge was built to withstand strong winds and earthquake risks in the region. This mega-engineering structure was also highly appreciated in terms of architecture. The use of high-strength steel suitable for the structure in the suspension bridge, the construction of which was completed in a record time of four years, enabled the operations to be carried out faster, stronger and more durable. 1915Çanakkale Bridge is a rich example for today's modern steel structures.” said.

The European Steel Bridge Awards will find their owners at the award ceremony to be held at the InterContinental Hotel in Istanbul on September 10, 2022, in coordination with the 21th International Steel Bridges Symposium (SBIS 2022), organized by the Turkish Structural Steel Association (TUCSA) in coordination with ECCS.
