Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that after the announcement of the LGS placement results, the orientation towards vocational and technical Anatolian high schools continued to increase and said that vocational and technical Anatolian high schools achieved a historical success by taking students from the 1 percent success rate.

After the announcement of LGS placement results, it was determined that students showed great interest in vocational and technical Anatolian high schools, which provide education in different fields such as defense industry, cyber security, software, aviation, and media.

Pendik Teknopark MTAL, which has trained cyber guards in the field of cyber security, Demirören Medya MTAL, ASELSAN MTAL, Arnavutköy Istanbul Airport MTAL and ITU MTAL, which took students for the first time this year, became the young people's choice with a 1% rate.

“We created vocational high schools that can be role models”

In his assessment on the subject, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said, “While Turkey is making progress in many areas, we are also designing our schools in accordance with the technology of the day. We have activated vocational and technical high schools that train students in many different fields, such as in the fields of defense industry, cyber security, aviation, micro-mechanics and media. We have opened schools that can be role models for other vocational high schools in many fields like this. This reversed the perception about vocational education in Turkey. Today, we are talking about the success of vocational education”.

When looking at the 2022 LGS exam results, Özer emphasized that vocational high schools continue to increase their success by recruiting students from the 1 percent success rate this year, as it did last year, and said: “Previously, ASELSAN Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Konya ASELSAN Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Technopark Istanbul Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and ITU Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School had accepted students from the 1 percent success rate and they showed how academically successful students' orientation to vocational and technical education has increased. This year, Demirören Media Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which we opened a short time ago, also joined them and for the first time succeeded in enrolling students in vocational education with the highest score.”

Pointing out that the same success manifests itself in local placement, Minister Özer said, “This is not only in schools with exams, but also in local placement without exams, especially in cooperation with TOBB, İSO, İTO, ATO, ASO. We see that the occupancy rates in vocational high schools have reached 100 percent. Indeed, we are faced with a result that bears fruit in a very short time, in terms of showing how successfully the processes are managed, to the extent that we include sector representatives in vocational training. Hopefully, by increasing and strengthening these collaborations, we will make vocational education much stronger.” he said.
