Sakalikesik Village Life Center Opened with a Ceremony

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the ceremony held for the reopening of the Saklıkesik village school in Erzurum's Aziziye district and turning it into a village life center.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that reverse migration started during the epidemic, people returned to their villages from the metropolises, so they started to make new investments in the field of education after the reverse flow, and said, “We started a campaign to activate the schools in 7 thousand villages and to associate schools with education in the neighborhoods again. . We called these places 'village life centers' because they have a meaning beyond the school. As the legislation, we took the first step by removing the number requirement in the opening of village schools. If there are students in all villages of our 922 district, we will activate the schools. We took one more step and reduced the requirement for 10 students to open a classroom to 5 for the opening of kindergartens in villages. With this step, 1800 thousand of our children were introduced to pre-school education in 12 villages.” he said.

Özer said that within the scope of the studies carried out, some innovations were made in the public education centers and that these studies included everyone from 7 to 70.

Stating that their aim this year is to reach 1 million citizens every month within the scope of education support, Özer said: “The number of citizens benefiting from 2012 public education centers in 998 was 5 million. We have reached 6 million citizens in 6.3 months. 70% of them are women. We aim to increase this capacity to at least 12 million by the end of the year. If the number were 10 million in total, 7 million of them would be women. All women, men and youth in the neighborhoods will reach their demands without going to the city center at the public education centers we have established. In doing so, we act together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. We will deliver everything that the villagers and citizens need. We will provide all our villagers with all kinds of education services related to agriculture and animal husbandry that our citizens need.”

“We will increase the ability of our children to contact with our adults”

Özer stated that they are carrying out some studies together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Emphasizing that they will turn village life centers into camps, Özer said: “We will now create places where our youth and children attend summer courses and camps in such living centers. For the first time, just like a house of worship, we will bring together our children, adults and elders in the primary school, kindergarten, in this building within the framework of education. Thus, we will increase the ability of our children to establish contact with our adults. This is so precious. As the Ministry of National Education, we do not only want to raise academically strong young people. At the same time, we want to raise young people who respect their state, communicate with their nation and respect the necessities of their nation. These will be in these village life centers. I believe that the torch we have lit will find a response in all villages, districts and metropolitan cities. With a new concept and a new understanding, we will have started a new education and culture move, starting from the village, in this way.”

After the speeches, Özer toured the center with his entourage, then played ball with the children on the field in front of the central building and made a penalty shot.

Minister Özer's wife Nebahat Özer, Governor Okay Memiş, AK Party Erzurum deputies Zehra Taşkesenlioğlu Ban, Selami Altınok, MHP Deputy Chairman and Erzurum Deputy Kamil Aydın and Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Sekmen also attended the opening.
