Disaster Awareness is Raised to Women Living in Rural Areas in Sakarya

Sakarya Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency (AFAD) provides disaster awareness training to women living in rural areas within the scope of the "Let's Take the First Step Strongly" project.

50 women received training in the program held in Adapazarı Public Education Center conference hall. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to provide disaster training to 5 thousand women throughout the city.

In his statement, AFAD Provincial Director Hüseyin Kaşkaş said that in the trainings, it was explained what should be done in order to determine the disaster risks and take precautions, and to minimize the loss of life and property.

Expressing that the project was productive, Kaşkaş noted that they received positive feedback from the participants.

Nilüfer Turhan, who participated in the program, stated that she thought the training was beneficial and said, “As a result of the training, I was convinced that I really should have a fire extinguisher at home and not plug the phone into the charger at night. Fixing things is absolutely essential. It has been very good for me to remember these, I will definitely pay attention.” he said.

Nurcan Şişik, who stated that he got efficiency from the training, said that he would apply what he learned.
