MAN Truck & Bus' Lion S models TGX and TGE managed to impress the international jury of 2022 experts for the Red Dot Design Award 48. MAN's long-distance truck TGX and light commercial vehicle TGE van, with their standard equipment and features popular among drivers, won the competition in the “Commercial Vehicles” category, where products from 60 countries competed fiercely. MAN received its award at the ceremony held in Essen on 20 June.
Friedrich Baumann, Member of the Management Board responsible for MAN Truck & Bus Sales and Marketing, said: “The recognition of the Individual Lion S models at the Red Dot Design Awards is a particularly good achievement for the MAN Individual ex-works model range and the growing Lion S family. In commercial vehicles, it's not just efficiency that has to be taken into account, it's also emotion. Because logistics needs the passion of drivers, especially people who are on the road every day. We want to give them pride and identity with our trucks. For this purpose, MAN offers real characters with the Lion S models.”
Red Dot founder and CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec also praised the successful vehicles competing in the “Commercial Vehicles” category, including MAN's Lion S models. Carolin Schütt, who is responsible for the color and material design of elite vehicles in the MAN Truck & Bus design department, said: “Choice and material selection is vital, as good usability determines the design of commercial vehicles. That's why we've constantly gathered the feedback and practical expertise of drivers and business owners from the very beginning of the development phase of the New Truck Generation. While doing their job, drivers should feel comfortable and take pride in their work. This is very important to all of us. “Our Lion S models consistently embody this approach.”
The successful design work on the exterior is evident in the carbon applications on the bumpers and mirrors, as well as the red accents combined with the piano black radiator area. The design language applied in the interior; Red decorative stitching on the leather steering wheel, red seat belts, seats in Alcantara leather with red diamond stitching and matching armrests and door inserts characterize the interior. Headrests decorated with red lion embroidery also add a different atmosphere to the design.
All this detailed, practical interior and exterior design in the MAN Individual Lion S models; It impressed this year's independent jury of the Red Dot Design Awards. 23 design experts from 48 countries decided that the Lion S models presented by MAN's color and material design experts stand out among the numerous products presented in the “Commercial Vehicles” category. He rewarded these special lions with the Red Dot that everyone was eager to win.
