İzmir First Film Project Development Camp Has Ended

İzmir First Film Project Development Camp ended with a full program. In the camp in Urla, many names who have accomplished important works in the name of cinema in Turkey listened to the projects of young filmmaker candidates from Izmir and shared their experiences with them.

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerIzmir Cinema Office, which was established in line with the goal of transforming the city into an alternative center for the cinema industry, continues its pioneering work in the field. İzmir First Film Project Development Camp was organized in order to contribute to the development of filmmakers who are preparing to realize their first feature film project. The screenwriters, directors and producers of 63 film projects, which were selected among 5 applications received through open call and qualified to participate in the camp, went through an intensive training and mentoring process for 5 days.

Private session for each project

In the sessions held specifically for each film project within the scope of the training, new doors were opened on the stories and characters of the films, the production processes were discussed, and strategic contributions were made to strengthen the application files in the competitive environment of the cinema industry. On the last day of the camp, a “pitching” experience environment was held in which the camp participants made a presentation before the jury.

İzmir is on the big screen, filmmakers are in İzmir!

Names who have accomplished important works in the name of cinema in Turkey met with the participants as guest trainers and answered the questions of filmmakers who were preparing to enter the sector with their first film project. The management of the budget and financing processes, preparation of the application file, scenario development, directing experience in the first film, actor-director relationship, distribution and sales strategies, festival processes, producer-director dynamics were among the topics covered during the camp.

In all 3 sessions within the scope of İzmir Cinema Office Red Frame Special programs, many filmmaker candidates coming from outside the camp had the opportunity to benefit from their experiences by meeting with important names in the camp environment.

Sector representatives expressed their opinions that the Izmir First Film Project Development Camp is a very right project to lay the foundations of the Izmir school of cinema and that it is an eye-opener for our country. It is aimed that the Izmir First Film Project Development Camp, organized by Izmir Cinema Office, which continues its activities in partnership with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Izmir Foundation, with the support of İZELMAN, will continue in the coming years in order to strengthen the potential of filmmakers who started their career journey in Izmir.
