İBB is renewing the internet infrastructure in public transportation vehicles. Within the scope of the project, a new IMM Wi-Fi infrastructure was installed on 1.000 buses this year. Thus, free internet is provided on more than 3 buses, including the metrobus. It is possible to access free Wi-Fi through the “Istanbul Yours” application. Providing service at a total of 9 thousand 563 points throughout the city, IMM Wi-Fi reaches 5 million Istanbulites daily.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) started a project to expand the free internet service in public transportation vehicles. The internet infrastructure of 1.000 IETT buses was renewed this year within the scope of the studies carried out by the Information Technologies Department and the İBB subsidiary ISTTELKOM. The number of buses with internet service in Istanbul increased to 3 thousand 312, including metrobus. Thus, approximately 15 thousand Istanbulites can benefit from free internet while traveling.

Erol Özgüner, Head of the IT Department of IMM, pointed out that the use of Wi-Fi in public transport is quite high, and said, "With this study, we will offer a much faster Wi-Fi service to Istanbul residents traveling by bus."

Istanbul WiFi service, provided by IMM at 9 thousand 563 points, reaches 5 million Istanbulites per day. It is possible to access the IMM Wi-Fi service only through the “Istanbul Yours” application.
