The foundation of the Ankara-Yerköy-Kayseri High Speed Train Line, which will reduce the travel time between Ankara and Kayseri to 2 hours, was laid with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the Ankara-Yerköy-Kayseri High Speed Train Line was held in Kayseri. To the ceremony; President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the meeting. Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport, stated that railways have been handled with a new understanding in order to ensure a balanced distribution between transportation modes since 2003, and said, “A total of 2003 thousand 2020 kilometers of railways were built between 134 and 2, with an average of 149 kilometers per year. In addition to the new lines, the current railway infrastructure was renewed by increasing the rate of electrified lines from 19,4 percent to 50 percent, and the rate of signal lines from 22 percent to 53 percent with the ongoing modernization works. In addition to our existing railway network, which is 91 thousand 194 kilometers in total, 1213 thousand 12 kilometers of conventional main line and 803 kilometers of high-speed train line; Construction work continues on a total of 357 kilometers of railway line, 3 kilometers of which are conventional main lines and 515 thousand 3 kilometers of high-speed train lines. On the 872 kilometers line, the study-project studies continue”.
ANKARA - KAYSERİ BETWEEN 2 HOURS
Karaismailoğlu said, "We will build the 142 kilometer Yerköy - Kayseri high standard railway between Yerköy YHT Station in Yozgat's Yerköy district and Kayseri," and said that when the line is completed, it will be integrated with the Ankara-Sivas high-speed railway. Karaismailoğlu noted that there will be double-track, electrified and signaled even High Speed Train services, and continued as follows;
“With the commissioning of our line, the length of the line between Yerköy and Kayseri, which is 170 kilometers, will decrease to 142 kilometers, and the transportation time will decrease from 3 and a half hours to less than 1 hour. With the commissioning of the line, the Ankara - Kayseri transportation time, which is provided in 7 hours by the existing conventional railway, will be reduced to 2 hours. With this line, we will have the opportunity to transport 11 million passengers and 650 thousand tons of cargo in a year between our Ankara, Kırıkkale, Yerköy, Şefaatli, Yenifakılı, Himmetdede, Boğazköy and Kayseri stations. In project scope; 16 tunnels with a total length of 15 kilometers, 118 highway underpasses, 18 highway overpass bridges and 184 culverts will be built. With the completion of our project, between 2025 and 2054; A total of 4.1 billion Euros will be gained, including 1.4 billion Euros from passenger and cargo time savings, 5 billion Euros due to reduction in water pollution, air pollution and noise pollution, and 10.5 billion Euros from reductions in road operating expenses.
