Many sky enthusiasts had the opportunity to observe the space from the roof of Anatolia. Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, who opened the Erzurum Sky Observation Event, stated that they built Turkey's largest telescope and Europe's largest observatory in Erzurum and said, "Scientists will come to this city from all over the world." said. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Minister of Youth and Sports, who attended the opening by teleconference, reminded that the facility where the event was held was built for the 2011 Winter Olympics and said, "There may not be a ski season now, but it is another source of happiness that our facility serves for the sky observation event." he said.
IN TUBITAK COORDINATION
Erzurum Sky Observation Event is held at Konaklı Ski Center under the auspices of the Ministries of Industry and Technology, Youth and Sports, Culture and Tourism, under the coordination of TÜBİTAK with the contributions of Erzurum Governorship, Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, Northeast Anatolian Development Agency (KUDAKA) and Atatürk University. Participants also have the opportunity to visit the 3-meter-high Eastern Anatolian Observatory (DAG), where Turkey's largest telescope is under construction.
DİYARBAKIR AND ERZURUM AFTER VAN
2022 Sky Observation Activities continue with Erzurum after Diyarbakır and Van. Besides Minister Varank, Erzurum Governor Okay Memiş, Erzurum Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Sekmen and AK Party Deputy Chairman Ömer İleri, AK Party Erzurum Provincial President Mehmet Emin Öz, AK Party Erzurum deputies Recep Akdağ, Selami Altınok, opened the 3-day event. TURKEY'S LARGEST BASIC SCIENCE PROJECT
Speaking at the opening of the event, Minister of Industry and Technology Varank stated that Erzurum is an ideal location in the world for sky observation and said, “Erzurum is also a place where Turkey's largest basic science project is held. The largest observatory in its area is currently being built here. Not only the observatory is being built either. An optical research center is being built, which will be used in this observatory, as well as in different fields. If we bring such an infrastructure to this city in Erzurum and bring such an infrastructure to Turkey's scientific world, not only to the scientists of Turkey but also of the world, we had to introduce it to Turkey, and we chose Erzurum specifically for this.” he said.
HAVE SERIOUS CAPABILITIES
Saying that there were those who objected when they said, “We are building Turkey's largest telescope and Europe's largest observatory in Erzurum,” Varank said, “It is snowing in Erzurum. So we chose Erzurum to show them how to observe the sky. Scientists from all over the world will come to this city. 'We want to use this telescope. They will say, 'Let's do a project together. Because our telescope is a telescope with which we can obtain an image perhaps as serious as the Hubble telescope, with its 4 meter diameter adaptive lens system, which has very serious capabilities.” made the statement.

Emphasizing that the event is held at the points where sky observation is best done, Minister Kasapoğlu said, “Erzurum is important because it is the province with the largest telescope in Turkey, and I believe that our sky activity will continue to get stronger every year. We built the Konaklı Ski Facilities you are in for the winter Olympics in 2011. It is a facility that has strongly hosted all winter athletes since then. Maybe there is no ski season now, but it is another source of happiness for our facility to serve for the sky observation festival.” said.
CALL FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Reminding that student dormitories serve young people free of charge with the Travel Lover Project, Kasapoğlu said, “This project, which we believe will be an important opportunity for getting to know our country, chatting with our beautiful people, and socializing with them, is already well received by our young people, but I still support this project. I invite our young people who have not participated in this study to travel and to stay free of charge in our dormitories, which are open to them.” he said.
FAMILIES AND WOMEN SHOW GREAT ATTENTION
Astronomy enthusiasts show great interest in Erzurum Observation Event, which aims to increase young people's interest in space with the vision of the National Space Program. Among the 81 people who applied to participate in the event from 800 provinces, 600 people were chosen by lottery. Families and women showed great interest to participate in the Erzurum Sky Observation Event, as was the case in Diyarbakır and Van, which was held before. The youngest guest of the event determined by lottery is 1 year old, and the oldest is 66 years old.
PEOPLE'S DAY AT 3 THOUSAND 170 METERS
Participants also have the opportunity to visit the DAG, which was established at an altitude of 3 thousand 170 meters, where Turkey's largest telescope is located. In addition to the chairlift, transportation to Karakaya Hill, where the DAG telescope is located, 10 kilometers from Konaklı Ski Center, is also provided by road.

THE FINAL WILL BE HELD IN ANTALYA
The Ministry of Industry and Technology brings together sky enthusiasts of all ages by spreading the TÜBİTAK National Sky Observation Event, which was first initiated by TÜBİTAK Science and Technical Journal in 1998 and held in Antalya Saklıkent, to different cities of Anatolia. This year, the Sky Observation Event will end in Antalya on August 18-21, following Diyarbakır, Van and Erzurum.
