Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, Deputy Chairman of the Republican People's Party and Istanbul Deputy, announced the health reforms to be made in the CHP government.

CHP Deputy Chairman for Health Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, by explaining the final declaration of the Turkey Health Forum organized by CHP as a party, said, “The health system in Turkey needs to be changed immediately. We will basically organize the field of health with the 'right to health' approach. With a public health system that we have prepared to respond to the needs of our country, we will provide health services to everyone, everywhere and at all times.

Introducing the book of the Turkey Health Forum, which was organized with the participation of CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Deputy Chairman Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi said, "Our valuable teachers and health workers, who healed from different fields of health, provided their contributions in this study."

CHP Deputy Chairman Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi touched upon the following issues:

The tendency to attack healthcare professionals cannot be seen as normal.

“As the Republican People's Party, we organized the Turkey Health Forum to evaluate the production, financing, delivery and accessibility of health services with a participatory approach and to shape the current system with the dimensions of social justice and fundamental rights.

The tendency of a society to attack its healers cannot be seen as normal. The power mentality that sees physicians and health workers as cheap labor, exploits, devalues and despises labor is responsible for this climate.

Those who commercialize health are those who undermine inner peace. They breed violence. They are the ones who victimize the patient and devalue physicians and health workers.

On behalf of all health professional groups, we do not accept the understanding that separates, marginalizes and devalues health workers.”

Health transformation program is a health collapse program

“For 20 years, we have been fighting against the mentality that has privatized everything from needle to thread in the field of health, turned state institutions into companies, and destroyed the name of the public.

By saying transformation, we are fighting against those who transfer health care to the hands of the market with make-up reforms.

At the point reached today, the transformation program in health has turned into a collapse program in health. This is a picture of a completely crashed system.

As our ancestors said, "Let people live so that the state can live", we are explaining our people-oriented power program in health, both to live and to keep alive."

All obstacles will be removed

“The health system in Turkey needs to be changed immediately. As stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, health is one of the most basic human rights. We will basically organize the field of health with the 'right to health' approach. With a public health system that we have prepared to meet the needs of our country, we will provide health services to EVERYONE, ANYWHERE and ANYTIME.

We will remove all barriers to access to health services.

Free scan once a year

“We will strengthen preventive health services (preventing diseases, protecting health and promoting health), ensuring that every citizen undergoes periodic health check-ups at primary health care institutions once a year free of charge. In addition, we will put into effect a monitoring program in which our citizens aged 65 and over will be visited by health personnel at regular intervals in their places of residence. We will do all premarital health screenings free of charge.

In order to ensure a continuous communication between the Ministry of Health, professional associations and unions, we will establish a committee called 'Turkey Health Council', which includes health professional unions and union representatives.

We will reopen the state hospitals in the city centers, which were closed while the city hospitals were opened.

We will provide the health services needed by the armed forces at all levels, and reopen military hospitals and health facilities.”

Food support for students

“When starting primary, secondary and high school, every student will undergo a comprehensive health examination at the Public Health Centers.

We will provide at least one meal of healthy nutrition in schools in order to reduce the physical and mental effects of increasing child poverty and the food crisis on students.”

Violence in healthcare will end

“We see the prevention of violence in health as one of our top priorities. First of all, we will destroy the resentful rhetoric that harms the dignity of healthcare workers and tries to discredit them. We will ensure that healthcare professionals provide services in safe environments. We will punish those who use violence against healthcare workers in the harshest and most determined way. We will abolish SABİM, which has become a hotline and a tool for psychological pressure.

We will transform the University of Health Sciences from being an educational institution affiliated to the Ministry of Health, into an autonomous university.”

The welfare of all health workers will increase.

“We will increase the welfare level of all healthcare professionals serving in the public sector. For this purpose, we will gradually increase the additional indicators, starting from 3600, to ensure that healthcare workers receive the basic wages they deserve.

In the public sector, at least 80% of the monthly income of health workers will be from their basic salaries; We will remove the performance-based bonus system.

We will immediately appoint health workers.

Everyone will be covered by GSS

“We will ensure that every citizen can be covered by the General Health Insurance regardless of their premium debt.”

We will close city hospitals

“It will put an end to the hospital enterprises, which are called 'city hospitals' in our country, established and operated with the 'Build-Lease-Transfer' model of the 'Public-Private Partnership' method; We will remove the city hospitals, which have turned into rent investments, inefficiency and waste projects, from being a burden on the public.

We will immediately initiate the legal processes for the recovery of the public damage in the city hospitals from those responsible.

Refik Saydam will reopen the Hygiene Institute; We will produce all the vaccines we need in our country with a sense of public responsibility, as in the past.

As we said at the beginning, health is the most basic human right. The health system to be implemented by the Republican People's Party will be a public system that is equal to every citizen, free for all, accessible to all and providing quality health care.”
