With the phrase "I can't breathe" still linger in the ears of George Floyd, who was killed two years ago, the record of law enforcement abusing African Americans continues to swell.

Police authorities in the city of Akron, Ohio, USA, released a video recording of the death of an African American named Jayland Walker with a gun by the police on July 3.

In the video, it is seen that Walker, who jumped out of his car during the traffic control, was exposed to the continuous fire of 8 policemen during the chase. It was announced that more than 90 gunshot wounds were found on Walker's body, who was fired at about 60 times.

The 4th of July is celebrated as Independence Day in the USA. But Walker's blood is "All men are created equal," written in the Declaration of Independence. He turned his expression into an unpleasant joke.

The article in “The Boston Globe” states, “What is there to celebrate on the 4th of July (Independence Day) after a bad June?” expressions were used.

While protests were held against police violence in the city of Akron, the Independence Day celebrations were cancelled.

According to the data on the website of the "Police Violence Map" (MPV), the number of people killed by the police in the USA since 2020 has increased to 2 thousand 563. African Americans accounted for 22 percent of this.

In this year alone, 49 African Americans have been shot and killed by police. The MPV's website also states that African Americans in the country are 2,9 times more likely to be killed by police than whites.

Aside from the activities of law enforcement, systematic racial discrimination is ingrained in every aspect of US society. Discrimination and oppression “take the breath away” of minorities. Behind this are both the history of slavery, the social atmosphere of white supremacy, as well as the preoccupation of American politicians with inter-party conflicts and the failure of governance.

US President Joe Biden said, “Systematic racism is a stain on the soul of the nation.” said. Until today, this stain has not been erased, but has become more prominent.

The so-called "equality" and "inclusiveness" slogans of US politicians can no longer cover the stains on the so-called "human rights defender".

It is a matter of curiosity how the US politicians will respond to the founders of the country, even on the 4th of July, on the crisis stemming from violence and ethnic separatism.
