The Number of Barrier-Free Beaches Increases in Muğla

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, with the Barrier-Free Beaches project, enables disabled citizens to meet the sea as easily as everyone else. Within the scope of the project implemented in 2016, the Metropolitan Municipality increased the number of specially designed beaches throughout the province to 21 in order to enable disabled citizens to enter the sea.

In Muğla, which has the longest coastline in Turkey, the Barrier-Free Beaches project, which was implemented by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality in 2016, continues by expanding, so that citizens from all walks of life can swim. Within the scope of the project, which was implemented in order to ensure that especially disabled citizens can meet the sea as easily as everyone else, the Metropolitan Municipality has so far created 8 barrier-free beaches in 21 districts.

Although there is no beach under the responsibility of the Metropolitan Municipality throughout the province, its efforts for the disabled to reach the sea are appreciated. In case of the request of the disabled citizens, the disabled transportation vehicles are transported to the beaches, and if there is a demand, they are provided to meet with the sea in the presence of the personnel in charge. Citizens who do not request can use the barrier-free beaches accompanied by their families or companions. In addition, services such as the security of the beaches and lifeguard services are provided by the institutions and organizations that operate the beaches.
