The Ministry of National Education has made available the reports on the results of the central and local placements made within the scope of the High School Transition System (LGS).

The Ministry, whose approach in the transition to secondary education cycle is to improve the process continuously and data-based, reported the results of the 2018 LGS first placement within the scope of the Education Analysis and Evaluation Reports Series, which it started at the end of 2022 in order to increase accountability and transparency in its policies.

In this context, the Ministry, which has prepared two separate reports titled "First Placement Results within the Scope of the 2022 High School Entrance System (LGS)" and "Performance of Students Placed in the 2022 High School Entrance System (LGS) Central Examination", has made the reports available at "meb.gov.tr".

According to the reports, in which detailed analyzes about the exams and placements are shared with the public and which later contribute to the process improvements regarding the exam, 2021 million 2022 thousand 8 of the 1 thousand 236 students who successfully completed the 308th grade in the 1-31 academic year and graduated from secondary school, took the central exam. joined. 799 of these students were placed in secondary education institutions that accept students by examination in line with their Central Examination scores and preferences. In this context, the rate of participation in the Central Examination is close to the previous years, and the rate of placement in secondary education institutions that admit students through the exam was calculated as approximately 188 percent.

In the reports, the relationship between the central exam scores and the school achievement scores (OBP) of the students placed in the central exam scores (MSP) was also examined. In this context, it was observed that there was a strong correlation between the students' scores in the central exam and their school success.

The continuous improvement approach used by the Ministry of National Education for placement in secondary education institutions has been continued with determination despite the negative effects of the Covid-19 epidemic in recent years. As a result of this, a simultaneous improvement was achieved in placement indicators such as general placement rates, priority placement rates and occupancy rates of educational institutions.

The year 2022 was the year in which the placement indicators reached the most positive level during the transition to secondary education. Approximately 1 percent of the 8 million 139 thousand 95 students who made a choice within the scope of the first placement were placed in a secondary education institution in line with their preferences. In this context, the 2021 percent placement rate in 93 for students who made a choice in the first placement has been moved to 95 percent.

Improvements in local placement, which is used to place approximately 85 percent of students in secondary education institutions, showed that planning at the provincial-district level provided tangible outputs.

The rate of placement of students in a secondary education institution in their first three preferences increased from 2021 percent in 92 to 2022 percent in 94.

Therefore, a significant improvement was achieved in the placement rates of students in their priority preferences, where they do not have to choose a second school type. Another pleasing development in the increase in the rate of placement in priority preferences was the fact that this increase occurred together in all types of secondary education. While the rate of placement in the first choice institution of the students who are placed in vocational secondary education institutions with local placement is 2021 percent in 45,5, it increases to 2022 percent in 51,8; It increased from 52,9 percent to 56,3 percent in Anatolian high schools and from 55,5 percent to 57,1 percent in Anatolian imam hatip high schools. In other words, the increase in the rate of placement in priority preferences was not limited to only one type of school, it was extended to all secondary education institutions. The increase of 6 percent, especially in vocational secondary education, is extremely important in terms of showing the weight of students' preferences after the transformation in vocational education.

Settlement rates in the first three preferences

2021 percent of the students who were placed in Anatolian high schools in 53 settled in an Anatolian high school in their first choice, and 98 percent in an Anatolian high school in their first three preferences. In 2022, the rate of students placed in Anatolian high schools in their first choice increased to 57%, and the rate of placement in an Anatolian high school in their first three preferences reached 99%.

Similarly, 2021 percent of the students who were placed in Anatolian imam hatip high schools without an exam in 55 settled in an Anatolian imam hatip high school in their first choice, while 88 percent settled in an Anatolian imam hatip high school in their first three preferences.

In 2022, it was seen that 57 percent of the students who were placed in Anatolian imam hatip high schools without an exam were placed in an Anatolian imam hatip high school in their first choice and 88 percent in their first three preferences.

The biggest improvement in 2022 was experienced in vocational and technical secondary education. The rate of students who were placed in the vocational and technical secondary education institution of their first choice increased from 2021 percent in 46 to 2022 percent in 52. At the same time, the rate of students placed in the vocational and technical secondary education institution of their first three preferences increased from 2021 percent in 82 to 2022 percent in 88.

The number of vocational high schools where high-achieving students are placed has increased

The improvement seen in the placement indicators was also evident in the placement statistics based on the central exam score.

As a matter of fact, with the increase in the quotas of educational institutions that admit students through exams, the occupancy rates of these institutions have increased significantly. While the occupancy rate of educational institutions that admitted students through exams in 2021 was 95,2 percent, the occupancy rate increased to 2022 percent in 98,4.

Vocational secondary education institutions also came to the fore in placement based on Central Examination scores. The occupancy rates of these institutions reached 77 percent from 95 percent with a great increase. In addition, the number of institutions preferred by high-achieving students among vocational secondary education institutions that admit students by examination continued to increase.

ASELSAN Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School (MTAL), ASELSAN Konya MTAL and Technopark Istanbul MTAL became the students' choice in 2022 from the 1 percent success rate. Demirören Medya MTAL, which was opened in 2022, also joined these institutions. Istanbul Airport MTAL and Sabiha Gökçen MTAL were also among the schools that accept students from the upper percentiles.

The fact that students' preference patterns and the flow between secondary and secondary education institutions are quite similar to those of 2021 indicate that improvements in line with these indicators will continue to increase satisfaction.

The Ministry of National Education's taking steps in line with student flow and preferences in secondary education in recent years continues to lead to improvements in placement indicators.
