President Soyer Visited 'Wise King' Izetbegovic's Grave

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, who went to Bosnia and Herzegovina for the 8th anniversary of the massacre of more than 27 thousand people in Srebrenica Tunç Soyer and the Izmir delegation was in the capital Sarajevo on the first day of the visit. President Tunç Soyer's Sarajevo visit was accompanied by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality council members Nilay Kökkılınç from the Republican People's Party, Atilla Baysak, Taner Kazanoğlu, Sedat Sarı from the IYI Party, Ertuğrul Akgün from the AK Party, Fikret Mısırlı, Nezih Özuyar from the Deva Party, representatives of the Balkan associations and the İzmir press.

“A great leader who took care of his nation”

Arriving in Sarajevo in the afternoon, the Izmir delegation first visited the Kovaci Cemetery, where the tomb of Aliya Izetbegovic, the first President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is located. The President, who also visited the tombs in the historical martyrdom Tunç Soyer, praying at İzzetbegovic's grave and laying a wreath.

While we are coming here from Izmir today, we are actually here representing the conscience of Izmir. We are trying to keep the conscience of Izmir alive.”

Historical city bearing the traces of war

President Soyer and the accompanying delegation visited Başçarşı, which bears Ottoman traces, after the Kovaçi Martyrdom. Facing the interest of the people of Sarajevo and the Turks in Bosnia, President Soyer met with the shopkeepers of the bazaar. sohbet it did. Visiting historical places bearing the traces of war such as Ferhadiye Street, the cathedral, Markale Market and the National Library in the capital Sarajevo, President Soyer went to the Eternal Fire Monument, built in memory of the civilians and soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War.

President Soyer and the Izmir delegation will attend the 27th commemoration day of the Srebrenica Genocide on the second day of their visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
