Roma Rights Workshop is Held in Izmir on 22-23 July

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerIn line with the vision of 's human rights city, Roma Rights Workshop is held at the Historical Gas Factory on 22-23 July. 80 participants from different provinces of Turkey will come together in the workshop, which will be held as a closed session with the contributions of the Izmir City Council, in cooperation with the Urban Justice and Equality Branch Office of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Social Projects Department and the Monitoring Association for Equal Rights. Before the “Strategy Document and Action Plan for Roma Citizens”, non-governmental organizations working with Roma in this field on rights-based will meet in order to develop common strategies and develop public policies regarding the problems of Romani citizens. Romans speak their rights!

On the first day of the two-day workshop, the problems faced by the Roma in terms of access to basic rights such as education, health, housing, employment and urban services, policies for combating discrimination and coexistence, experiences in the face of extraordinary difficulties and access to cultural rights will be evaluated. On the second day, concrete proposals for the Roma Strategy Document and Action Plan will be developed by forming working groups with the round table method.

Forum is held on July 19

Before the workshop, on July 19, Prof. Dr. Moderated by Adnan Oğuz Akyarlı, the "Roma Rights Forum" will be held at the Izmir City Council building. In the forum where deputies, city council members and mukhtars will come together, the proposals will be written and presented at the Roma Rights Workshop. The report to be issued at the end of the workshop will also be shared with the public.
