Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that the number of passengers who preferred the airline in the first 6 months of this year increased by 87 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and rose to 75 million 259 thousand. Karaismailoğlu evaluated the developments in the aviation industry. Reminding that Tokat Airport and then Rize-Artvin Airport were opened in the past months, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that investments continue to meet the increasing passenger demand. Stating that they are taking firm steps within the framework of their 2053 targets, Karaismailoğlu noted that the investments made in the aviation sector continue to bear fruit.
Explaining that the number of airplanes landing and taking off at passenger and environment-friendly airports reached 74 thousand 64 in domestic flights and 71 thousand 460 in international lines, a total of 178 thousand 528 aircraft traffic was realized in June, including the overpasses, Karaismailoğlu said, “In June, the air traffic reached the same month of the previous year. It increased by 4,7 percent in domestic flights and 94,8 percent in international flights. The rate of increase in total aircraft traffic was 39,8 percent. Thus, 2019 percent of the air traffic in June 95 was reached. Passenger traffic, which decreased to a great extent throughout the world and in our country during the coronavirus epidemic, approached its previous level in June 2022 compared to the same month of 2019. In June of this year, 2019 percent of 89 passenger traffic was realized in total passenger traffic at our airports.
IN JUNE, THE NUMBER OF INTERNATIONAL PASSENGERS INCREASED 148 PERCENT
Emphasizing that in June, domestic passenger traffic at the airports increased by 14,5 percent to 7 million 441 thousand, and international passenger traffic increased by 148 percent to 10 million 662 thousand, Karaismailoğlu said that a total of 18 million 143 thousand passengers were served together with transit passengers in the same month. He stated that passenger traffic increased by 67,8 percent. Noting that the airport freight traffic reached a total of 378 tons, Karaismailoğlu underlined that in June this year, the freight traffic was realized above the 992 freight traffic.
Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, “The aircraft traffic that landed and took off from Istanbul Airport in June reached 11 thousand 117, 27 thousand 736 on domestic lines and 38 thousand 853 on international lines. In June, this airport served more than 1 million 643 thousand passengers, 4 million 371 thousand on domestic flights and 6 million 14 thousand on international lines.
TOTAL AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC IN 6 MONTHS APPROACHES 822K
Emphasizing that the recovery in the aviation sector is reflected in the figures, Karaismailoğlu noted that in the January-June period, the aircraft traffic that took off and landed rose to 24.3 thousand 364 with an increase of 971 percent in domestic flights compared to the same period of the previous year, and to 94 thousand 283 with an increase of 707 percent in international flights. Karaismailoğlu, who underlined that the total aircraft traffic increased by 52.7 percent and reached 821 thousand 869 with the overpasses, said, “Domestic passenger traffic has exceeded 44.2 million 36 thousand with an increase of 15 percent. The increase in international passenger traffic also drew attention. In the first 6 months of this year, international passenger traffic increased by 157,6 percent and reached 39 million 75 thousand. The total passenger traffic with direct transit passengers increased by more than 87 percent and reached a total of 75 million 259 thousand.
27 MILLION 560 THOUSAND PASSENGER PASSENGERS USED THE AWARD-WINNING ISTANBUL AIRPORT
Karaismailoğlu, who stated that the mobility in the passenger traffic at Istanbul Airport, which received award after award, continues, "In the 6-month period, a total of 50 thousand 524 aircraft traffic, 139 thousand 657 on domestic lines and 190 thousand 181 on international lines, took place at Istanbul Airport. A total of 7 million 174 thousand passengers used Istanbul Airport, 20 million 386 thousand on domestic flights and 27 million 560 thousand on international flights.
MORE THAN 1O MILLION PASSENGERS PREFERED ANTALYA AIRPORT
Pointing out that the mobility has increased at the airports in the tourism centers, Karaismailoğlu continued his statement as follows;
“In the first half of this year, the number of passengers receiving service from the airports in our tourism centers was 7 million 334 thousand in domestic flights and 10 million 156 thousand in international flights. Aircraft traffic, on the other hand, amounted to 61 thousand 133 on domestic lines and 7 thousand 323 on international lines. In the same period, 4 million 238 thousand passenger traffic was realized at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport and 10 million 219.631 passenger traffic at Antalya Airport. 1 million 439 thousand passengers were served at Muğla Dalaman Airport, 1 million 294 thousand passengers at Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, and 299 thousand passengers at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport.”
