'Report of Infectious Disease Deaths in 21 Provinces' from CHP İlgezdi

Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, Deputy Chairman of the Republican People's Party and Istanbul Deputy, evaluated the data of the Ministry of Health's deaths due to the pandemic.

Comparing the data of 21 Metropolitan and Provincial Municipalities of CHP with the death data announced by the Ministry of Health, Akkuş İlgezdi said, “How is it that the death data announced by the Ministry of Health in Turkey is less than the death data of 21 provinces under the management of CHP Municipalities? Even this question alone is proof that many of our citizens who lost their lives during the pandemic are not recorded. What are they hiding from whom, by not reflecting the epidemic, which they could not prevent from spreading, to numbers?

Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, Deputy Chairman of the CHP in charge of Public Relations, Health, Culture and Arts, explained the great contradiction between the "Report on deaths of infectious diseases in 21 provinces" and the death data. Regarding the report he wrote, Akkuş İlgezdi mentioned the following:

Actual number of deaths: approximately 21 thousand in only 97 provinces

“In this report, the number of citizens who died due to infectious diseases between 2020 March 39.720.917 and 46,9 June 11 in 10 metropolitan and 1 provincial municipalities, whose population is 2020 people in 30 and represents 2022% of the population of our country, is evaluated. According to the records of our Municipalities in the 21 provinces in question, the total number of our citizens who died between 1 March 2020 and 30 June 2022 due to infectious diseases is 96.985. As of July 3, 2022, the number of people whose cause of death was reported as COVID-19 by the Ministry of Health is 99.057 people nationwide. After the declaration of the pandemic, the number of COVID-2020 deaths nationwide announced by the Ministry of Health every month in 19 is lower than the number of infectious disease deaths collected by the CHP Headquarters.

The number of deaths is about 2,1 times higher than the ministry data

Evaluating the possibility that the COVID-60 mortality trend in the remaining 19 provinces of Turkey may be equivalent to the death rate of the 21 provinces included in this report, Akkuş İlgezdi said, “As of June 30, 2022, the COVID-19 deaths in Turkey are approximately 2,1 times higher than the Ministry of Health's notification. It is estimated that there may be 206.760 people more. The existence of deaths in which no contagious diseases are written in the death reports in the municipalities necessitates investigating the possibility of a higher number of COVID-19 deaths in our country.

Referring to the study of extra deaths published by the World Health Organization in May, Akkuş İlgezdi stated that as of the end of 2021, the number of COVID-19 deaths in Turkey is estimated to be 3,2 people, 264.041 times more than the Ministry of Health announced. Akkuş İlgezdi continued his words as follows:

Highest deaths: 2020 November-December, 2021 April, 2022 February

“When communicable disease deaths are evaluated by month in the records of 21 municipalities, the highest number of deaths were recorded in November and December of 2020, April of 2021 and February of 2022. The lowest number of deaths is observed in May and June of 2022.

We are in the 7th place among the countries most affected by the pandemic.

Pointing out that Turkey will be 7th in the list of countries most affected by the pandemic, if the death numbers are explained correctly according to the report, Akkuş İlgezdi said, “As of the beginning of July, Turkey is 19th in the world in the number of confirmed COVID-10 cases and 19th in the number of confirmed deaths. Aside from the discussions that the number of confirmed cases are also incompletely explained, if the death numbers due to COVID-19 were explained correctly, it would be understood that our country is the 7th country in the world most affected by the pandemic according to the number of deaths. The fact that our country, which is in the 17th place according to the world population, is at the top of the number of cases and deaths in the COVID-19 pandemic, is among the clearest indicators of the lack of a strong response to the pandemic.

The burden of Covid-19 is much heavier than the ministry announced

Emphasizing that the Ministry of Health does not disclose the distribution of COVID-19 deaths by age, gender, comorbidity, occupation, social class and provinces, Akkuş İlgezdi said, “During the latest budget negotiations, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca personally stated that the disease left behind in those who had COVID-19 disease. He had to explain that three to four times as many losses as current deaths are expected over the next three years due to damages. Neither TURKSTAT nor the Ministry of Health has yet announced the total number of deaths in our country for the years 2020 and 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic is not well managed in our country and as it is clearly seen, the burden of the COVID-19 pandemic in our country is much heavier than the data announced by the Ministry of Health.
