Dietitian Çisil Güneş pointed out that cardiovascular patients, diabetes patients, hypertension patients and kidney patients should pay particular attention to red meat consumption during this period.

PREFER BOILING AND GRILLING

Giving information about what should be considered about meat consumption during the feast, Dietician Güneş said, “The meat of animals slaughtered on the day of the feast is usually cooked and consumed within a few hours without waiting. However, meat is a difficult food to digest, especially individuals suffering from stomach ailments should not consume meat without resting in the refrigerator for 24-48 hours. Meat taken out of the freezer for cooking should be thawed on the lower shelves of the refrigerator, thawed meat should be cooked immediately and not frozen again. As a cooking method; Methods such as boiling, baking and grilling should be preferred, frying and roasting should be avoided. If the meat will be barbecued; It should not be fried so that it becomes charred, carcinogenic substances are formed in charred meat. Meat should not be cut into large pieces, but should be cut into small pieces, one for each meal, and placed in a freezer bag and stored in the freezer or deep freezer.

ATTENTION TO BREAKFAST

Emphasizing that it is very important to start the day with a healthy breakfast during the feast, Dietician Çisil Güneş said: “It is not right to consume meat immediately after it is cut. Therefore, on the first day, it would be better to choose a healthy breakfast with foods such as eggs, cheese, cold vegetables, olive/olive oil, whole grain bread, and to leave meat consumption for later. After a healthy breakfast, it will be easier for you to control your portion of meat, sweets and pastries. The presence of foods such as vegetables/salads with high pulp content, whole grain bread besides meat will prevent you from experiencing such problems. In addition, with meat, you should prefer bulgur instead of rice / pasta, and ayran / yogurt / tzatziki instead of acidic drinks. Consumption of excessive amounts of tea and coffee, especially during holiday visits, can cause excessive water loss from the body due to their diuretic effects. So try to drink 2-3 liters of water daily. Against the increased consumption of sweets during the holiday, it would be a better choice to prefer milky and fruity desserts instead of pastries containing high amounts of fat and sugar.
