Before the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday, the Ministry of Interior sent a circular to the 81 Provincial Governorships regarding the traffic measures to be taken on the highways.
In the circular, it was stated that due to the Eid al-Adha holiday, traffic inspections on highways will start on 07 July and will continue until 18 July. Between these dates, a total of 9.580 teams/teams, 17.529 personnel, of which 114.960 teams/teams and 210.352 personnel will be assigned daily in the Police and Gendarmerie responsibility region across the country.
Based on the fact that there is an inversely proportional relationship between inspection and loss of life in the circular sent by our Ministry to the governorships, it was requested that the traffic teams be visible as teams and pedestrians, especially on intercity highways and main urban routes. Due to the Feast of Sacrifice holiday and the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day coinciding with the same period, there will be an increase in the travel times and travel times for "tourism and agriculture" on the highway, therefore it was requested to minimize the negative effects of traffic density. In this context, it was stated that traffic inspections will start on 07 July and will continue until 18 July.
Happy Holidays
This holiday will emphasize the importance of the use of seat belts in traffic and the use of seat belts in the vehicle. Images with the slogan "May your holiday be with a belt" will be shared on billboards and social media platforms, corporate communication pages and local/national press/media organs.

Traffic Teams Will Be Visible
During the holiday, Police and Gendarmerie traffic personnel will not be assigned duties other than the regulation and control of traffic. Reinforcements will be made to traffic control teams from general service/public order units.
It will be ensured that the traffic teams are VISIBLE in order to improve the "Perceived Risk of Caught Sense" on the drivers, especially on the responsibility routes where accidents are intense. The headlights of the team vehicles on the designated routes will be turned on, and the LED groups on the back of the headlights will be turned off so that the drivers of the vehicles behind are not disturbed. “Model/Model Traffic Team Vehicle” and “Model/Model Traffic Staff” will be clean and well-maintained, and the headlights will be kept in working condition to increase the visibility of the vehicles at night.
Face to face communication will be established
During the inspections, the driver and passengers will be informed within the framework of the rules of respect and courtesy, and the procedures will be completed as soon as possible. "Face to Face Communication" will be established by stopping not only the violating vehicles but also the drivers of other vehicles at the points where the translation teams are located. Drivers should not speed, wear seat belts in the front and rear seats of the vehicle, do not make phone calls, stop and give way to those who pass or are about to pass through school and pedestrian crossings and intersection entry and exit points, comply with the rules of using lanes and close following, when approaching intersections. They will be informed about slowing down and not distracting their “attention and concentration” by taking a ten-minute break every two hours.
Improper Parking Will Not Be Allowed
Measures will be taken at the highest level to prevent violations such as waiting in the right lane or on the bank at the edges of rest facilities and fuel stations on highways and state highways, improper use of lanes by heavy vehicles, dangerous lane changes, close follow-up, stopping and parking on the highway except for mandatory situations, It will be followed daily and parking will not be allowed.
Pausing/parking in front of recreational facilities, fuel stations, places where products are sold on the roadside and in banquet/safety lanes, and product information letters belonging to roadside stalls will not be allowed to be placed on the sides of the highway, on the sign boards and inside the highway border line.
Intercity Bus Controls Will Be Emphasized
Density situations will be monitored and additional personnel will be assigned at terminals and intermediate stations when necessary. Drivers under the age of 66 and under the age of 26 will not be allowed to use the bus. The practice of assigning civilian personnel to buses will continue this holiday as well. Intercity buses will not be allowed to take off outside the terminal and permitted places. All buses, drivers and tachographs entering and leaving the terminals will be inspected.
By emphasizing the controls on the use of seat belts in buses, passengers will be informed about "using seat belts in order to prevent the vehicles from overturning and being thrown out of the vehicle in traffic accidents involving buses", and drivers will be informed about "not talking on mobile phones while driving".
Precautions on the Top 20 Routes with Intense Accidents Will Be Taken to the Upper Level
When needed, mixed teams will be formed to carry out joint inspections by the Police and Gendarmerie Traffic Teams. During the holiday, helicopters, drones, and UAV type aircraft will be used to the maximum in traffic regulation and inspection activities, especially on the dates when the traffic will be concentrated (start and end of the holiday).
The measures on the first 20 routes, where accidents have occurred intensively during the holidays in the last three years, will be planned more effectively and intensively, and teams will be assigned as a continuation of each other, without leaving uncontrolled areas in between. Radar speed controls will be carried out by making necessary markings, especially in places where speed-related accidents are concentrated.
Sleepless and Tired Drivers Will Be Invited Outside The Vehicle
Between the hours of 16.00-20.00, when the traffic is heavy, and the hours of 02.00-08.00, when fatal and injury traffic accidents, especially involving passenger buses throughout the country, occur frequently, in addition to the loss of attention due to sleeplessness and fatigue, the risk of accident increases due to the drowsiness caused by the first lights of the day on the drivers. The drivers will be invited out of the vehicle between 05.00:07.00 and the necessary controls and information will be given. Drivers with signs of insomnia and fatigue will be allowed to rest at checkpoints and outside the vehicle.
Mandatory materials and equipment for heavy-duty vehicles and tractors, reflectors on the back of the chassis and trailers, and protection frames (rear and side) will be checked. Within the scope of agricultural activities, traffic inspections will be increased between places receiving/giving migration. Road vehicles carrying seasonal agricultural workers will not be allowed to travel between the cities between 24.00 and 06.00. In regions where agricultural activities are intense, agricultural agricultural vehicles, tractors, combines, etc. will not be allowed to navigate in traffic on the highway.
In order to prevent the use of a modified vehicle, inappropriate exhaust and light equipment (non-standard colored, more powerful bulbs and illuminated or powerful white LED bulbs, etc.) and external sound system, joint inspections will be carried out with the security teams, and the detected vehicles will be banned from traffic.
Training and inspection activities will be increased in order to raise awareness of the importance of motor bike and motorcycle users using protective caps and goggles in saving lives in traffic accidents.

Additional traffic measures will be taken to ensure pedestrian safety in areas such as qurban sales/slaughter areas, martyrdoms, cemeteries and shopping centers where pedestrian traffic will intensify along with vehicle traffic, with the contribution of general service personnel.
