In the training organized with the cooperation of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) Team Command, participants from AKUT, IHH and conservation associations were told how to save animals that are in distress in natural disasters and nature.

Animal Search and Rescue Training was organized for the first time in Turkey with the cooperation of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) Antalya Team Command. Volunteers from AKUT, IHH and Animal Protection Associations participated in the training. Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Command Gendarmerie Search and Rescue Team Commander Petty Officer Senior Sergeant Mahir Akdemir gave the 2-day Animal Search and Rescue Training.

Told Through Animals

On the second day of the training, in which how to save domestic and wild animals that are trapped in nature or injured in natural disasters such as fire, earthquake, and flood, rescue activities were demonstrated on animals in Antalya Zoo. In the sections with wild animals, it was explained how the intervention should be due to the dangerous nature of animals. Aiming to save not only humans but all living things, the members of the association were made aware of the saving of animals.

It Was A Very Useful Training

Zeki Cihangir, Zoo Responsible Veterinarian, stated that they hosted the Animal Search and Rescue Training as Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and said, “We thank the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue team and the associations participating in the training for creating this awareness. We opened the doors of Antalya Zoo for the training. When animals living in nature are injured and weakened, we are responsible for their rehabilitation. I believe that the training organized jointly with the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue Team Command, non-governmental organizations and Antalya Metropolitan Municipality will be very beneficial.”

Our Purpose is to Save All Souls

Mustafa Eskitaş from Akut Antalya Team said, “To receive training on the correct rescue of pets and those who are in a difficult situation in natural disasters. Our goal is to save living things. Saving not only human beings but all living things. This has been the aim and duty of Akut since the day it was founded. “We got a good education,” he said.
