Public Bread Factory Opened in Istanbul to Increase Bread Production to 1,8 Million

İBB completed the Halk Bread Factory in Hadımköy, the project of which was prepared in 2017, the construction of which started in 2018, but 1 percent progress could be achieved. CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu inaugurated the factory, which has the title of Turkey's first sourdough bread production facility, increased its total "normal bread" production capacity from 1,5 million to 1,8 million, and was completed with an investment of 110 million Euros. Stating that serving Istanbul is an extraordinary task, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “To serve this city, it is necessary to work with qualified staff at the same time. Mr. President said, 'We are never hopeless'. Despite all the pressures, we grow hope. We will raise the same hope in Turkey as well. We will strengthen the same hope,” he said. “The most basic purpose of our coming to public authorities; Saying that producing service is investing on investment, İmamoğlu said, “Since the first day, we have been working to improve the quality of life of 16 million people, activating the common mind and providing service. We are focusing on solving problems that have been neglected for years, without wasting a penny of this beloved nation, and we are taking permanent steps to end the betrayal in this city.

The fourth factory of Istanbul Halk Ekmek, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), was opened in Hadımköy. The opening of the facility, named after the late Ahmet İsvan, the founder of Halk Ekmek, former Mayor of Istanbul; CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, CHP Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Haydar Akar, CHP Deputy Chairman Seyit Torun, CHP Istanbul Provincial President Canan Kaftancıoğlu, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, IYI Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Buğra Kavuncu, DEVA Party Istanbul Provincial President Erhan Erol, CHP IMM Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairman Doğan Subaşı and IYI Party IMM Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairman İbrahim Özkan, and Nurhan and Orhan İsvan from the İsvan family. ,

FROM KILIÇDAROĞLU TO İMAMOĞLU: “I AWARE THAT YOU ARE NOT READY TO MANAGE ISTANBUL”

The opening speech of the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, was made by CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu. Kılıçdaroğlu, emphasizing that he enjoyed listening to İmamoğlu, who spoke before him, said, “You are making a great effort. You're shedding sweat. Istanbulites appreciate the results of your efforts. I know you're seeing great pressure. I know you want to be blocked. I am also aware that it is unacceptable for a city like Istanbul to be run by a social democrat mayor. But we will get through all this. We will make this understanding dominant not only in Istanbul, but also in all of Turkey.” Pointing out that in the economic crisis environment, some citizens are unable to even buy bread for their homes, Kılıçdaroğlu said:

“WE WILL CREATE A CLIMATE OF TOLERANCE AS A NATIONAL ALLIANCE”

I have a mate. And I voiced it in every environment: Where our mayors were in office, no child would go to bed hungry. God grants it, you will see with the votes of the nation, we will realize it all over Turkey. As the Nation Alliance, we will create a climate in which there is peace in every house, abundance in every house, love, respect and tolerance in every house. This is our throne. We will do this. A society without conflict, a society at peace with itself. A society where everyone's faith and everyone's identity is respected. A society where we respect everyone's lifestyle. We will create this. We'll do it together. We will do it in democracy. We will do it with love and tolerance. We will do it by avoiding grudge, anger, and the feeling of revenge. We will rip those feelings out of our souls. I know we're apart. We have become a fighting society; i know that too. I also know that femicides are increasing. I also know that poverty is deepening. But Mr. President said, 'We are never hopeless'. Despite all the pressures, we grow hope. We will raise the same hope in Turkey as well. We will strengthen the same hope. I want everyone to be sure.”

“SERVING ISTANBUL IS AN EXTRAORDINARY MISSION”

Reminding Imamoglu's words to him, "Don't leave us alone, come to our openings," Kılıçdaroğlu said, "Yes, good services are being provided. Serving Istanbul also means serving Turkey. Because the resultant of 80 provinces is already embracing in the 81st province, namely Istanbul. Our citizens from 80 provinces are here. An Istanbul that was the capital of three great empires. An ancient city. It is a city whose stone soil is fertile and which we define as gold. So serving this city is an extraordinarily beautiful task. At the same time, in order to appreciate every service you provide, not only politicians, but also everyone living in this city and Istanbul, but also in Turkey, should thank you wholeheartedly in a sense. I would like to express this frankly," he said.

RANKED THE “PIONEER SERVICES” OF MUNICIPALITIES FROM CHP

Kılıçdaroğlu pointed out that CHP municipalities provided pioneering services in the past, as they do today, and listed them as follows: “The first Halk Bread factory was built here during the Ahmet İsvan period. It was made by the late Ali Dinçer in Ankara in 1979. This means that the municipalities from the Republican People's Party, who know the sanctity of bread and ensure that it enters every home, and take the first effort and the first step in this regard. Metro. The one who struck the first digging of the metro in Istanbul is among us today; Mr. Nurettin Sözen. In Ankara, Mr. Murat Karayalçın. Yuksel Cakmur, in Izmir. They say, 'We built the subways'. CHP's municipalities that laid the first foundation, gave the first struggle and provided the first source. Where does the first preferential route implementation originate? The first preferred route was built in Istanbul during the Aytekin Kotil era. It was made in Ankara, during the reign of Ali Dinçer. Distribution of milk to children aged 0-1. It was initiated by Nurettin Sözen for the first time in Istanbul. It was discontinued after Mr. Sözen. It was abandoned for a long time. But then, Istanbulites chose a young person. Dear Ekrem İmamoğluHe promised, 'I'm going to do this,' and he brought it to life. Kılıçdaroğlu, emphasizing the contributions they make to people in need, with the philosophy that 'the left hand will not see what the right hand gives', said, “That's why the person who runs the country today criticized Mr. İmamoğlu. 'He said, 'You were handing out milk? Where are these milks?' However, it had been dispersed for months. But he, you will necessarily line up the poor, advertise it, then give the milk… They think so. We are not like that. We come from a tradition that respects our faith, our identity, and the dignity of the poor. So we rebooted.”

THANKS TO İMAMOĞLU “İSTANBUL”

Calling İmamoğlu, "Mr. President, you are managing a city of 16 million people," Kılıçdaroğlu concluded his speech with the following words: "We say 16 million, but there is a population of over 20 million here, if you count the refugees and the others. Serving this city requires extraordinary effort. And in order to serve this city, it is also necessary to work with qualified staff. Therefore, when we look at the process that we laid the foundation for, and the process that has been completed, we see that you are working with qualified staff, determined staff, and a determined team. In this context, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks again in the presence of all Istanbulites. As you work, you will see; this people is appreciated. The people give their rights and support. It is necessary to work in this framework. Justice is what Turkey needs most right now. If prisons are overcrowded, there is no justice. If its journalists are in jail, there is no justice. There is no justice in this country if the drug lords are out, but a person is in jail for stealing bread. If there is a political power supported by drug barons, there is no justice in this country and there cannot be. We will ensure justice in all areas. We will provide justice in bread, justice in water, justice in court, justice in rights, justice in the wolf and justice in the bird. My word is word, promise. As the Nation Alliance, we will raise a Turkey where no child goes to bed hungry, a Turkey that is at peace with itself. And together we will rule this beautiful Turkey; all together."

AKŞENER: “YOU ARE LIVING AND RENOVATING ISTANBUL WITH ATATÜRK's VISION”

The following message from IYI Party Chairman Akşener was also read at the opening ceremony: “I thank you for your kind invitation. As much as I would like to be with you on this beautiful day when you will present your work for our Istanbul to the service of our nation, unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, I will not be able to be with you. The 'Republic of Turkey' of our Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who reminded the whole world that our city, Istanbul, which was entrusted as a home of science, culture and art by Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han, who brought us back to our city, Istanbul, with his glorious victory, will always remain as a Turkish homeland. You preserve, sustain and renew with the vision of 'culture is the foundation'. This is the most meaningful indicator of how to serve a nation properly. To serve a city, not just its citizens; stone, soil, nature, animals, history and culture to serve, protect and keep them alive. Ahmet İsvan People's Bread Factory, which you carry to future generations by protecting the Basilica Cistern, which was built approximately 1500 years ago on the land we live on, with your great effort, with your great effort to serve our nation in every area that our Istanbul needs, and by taking into account the needs of our nation. for your opening, especially your person; I would like to thank all the units of IMM who work with devotion, determination and determination. I greet each of you with the most sincere love and respect.”

İMAMOĞLU: “WE ARE BOTH A DEMOCRAT, SOCIAL JUSTICE AND INVESTOR MUNICIPALITY”

Saying, "We are proud and honored to open one of the biggest and most technologically modern facilities in Turkey in its field," Imamoglu said, "150 Projects in 150 Days", the first of the service marathon they started yesterday evening, by opening the 1500-year-old Basilica Cistern Museum to visitors. Reminds me of what they started. Saying, “We are a democrat, social justice and investor municipality,” İmamoğlu said, “The main purpose of our coming to public authorities is; To produce service is to invest on investment. Since the first day, we have been working to improve the quality of life of 16 million people, activating common sense and serving. We focus on solving problems that have been neglected for years, without wasting a penny of this beloved nation, and take permanent steps to end the betrayal in this city. For this reason, we have allocated 2022 percent of the IMM's 42 budget to investments. In other words, we have doubled our 2021 investment budget exactly this year.”

“WE ALLOCATED THE LION'S SHARE OF THE BUDGET TO RAIL SYSTEMS”

“We have allocated the lion's share of our budget to rail systems that have been neglected for a quarter of a century, neglected for a quarter of a century, could not be started even though it was said 'started', or even stopped completely,” said İmamoğlu, adding, “Therefore, we define our 2022 budget as an investment budget. On the other hand, we never forget our responsibility to stand by our people in their most difficult moments. We have increased the in-kind or cash aids we provide to our citizens in need by approximately 5 times compared to the previous periods. In other words, we use 9,4 percent of our expenses to support our citizens in need.” Emphasizing that almost a quarter of the total investments of local governments in Turkey are made by the İBB alone, İmamoğlu said: “The subject of our 'Fair Istanbul' vision is people. But it's not just the people who voted for us. Everyone who voted for us or not, living in this country. It is very important for us that hundreds of thousands of our children have free access to milk. Providing cash and shopping assistance to thousands of families; to provide educational support to our university students; distributing tablets to our primary school children; to always be with the needy and the needy with our aid boxes and newborn packages; to serve the orphan, the orphan and the disabled wholeheartedly; These are all our priority. Because, for the last 4 years, social justice and social assistance in this city has been strictly rights-based.”

AHMET ISVAN commemorated

Commemorating the late İsvan, after whom they named the factory they opened, with mercy and gratitude, İmamoğlu said, “Because his just, egalitarian administration and democratic personality have been one of our greatest inspirations. The late president did not distinguish anyone living in this city, provided services to the slum areas, equipped the city with playgrounds, and fought hard to return the lands of the people to the people. In short, it exhibited an extremely strong example of 'popular municipalism'. He also founded Halk Ekmek in 1977 so that the people of this city could eat bread at a cheaper and more economical price. But unfortunately, this country did not treat this esteemed president well. After the 80 coup, he was tried and imprisoned for being against the dictatorship and the oppressive government. So, does anyone know the name of those who sent him to jail today? Of course not. But the name Ahmet İsvan continues to live on in the works he contributed to Istanbul, in our factory that we opened here today, and in many other facilities. For this reason, we have accepted our Ahmet İsvan Public Bread Factory as one of the important milestones in our '150 Projects in 150 Days' service marathon.”

“THIS WONDERFUL COUNTRY IS NOT MANAGED BY QUALIFIED HANDS”

Saying, "What a pity we are experiencing a serious management crisis," İmamoğlu said, "This wonderful country is no longer governed by competent hands. We are all getting poorer day by day. In Turkey and Istanbul, official food inflation has risen above 90 percent. Everything, especially our staple food, is expensive. Those who govern us are not able to produce solutions, they ignore unemployment, hunger, misery, and turn their ears to the voice of the citizens. They even try to pass these problems on to our nation as if they were normal. They are trying to cover their desperation by attacking us and the services we provide to Istanbul. So, do we fall into pessimism and despair in the face of this situation? Of course not. Those who look at me in Istanbul can see that I am not pessimistic at all, I am not hopeless, on the contrary, I am full of hope.

OLD PEOPLE SHARED ITS DIALOGUE WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER

Pointing out that they took delivery of the factory they opened, with 1 percent complete, İmamoğlu said, “The construction has already been decided and planned. But it's just planned. For a long time, nail on nail had not been hammered. When we took office in 2019, it would be right to say that there was nothing. Can you imagine? 1%. The facility you see here today, together with its machinery, is an investment of 110 million Euros. We made it ready for service in a short time. And happily, we are opening it to the service of 16 million Istanbulites today.” In his speech, İmamoğlu also included the dialogue he had with Salih Bekaroğlu, the former General Manager of Halk Ekmek. Saying, “While making this investment, I received a thank you, phone call and message from the General Manager of Halk Bread, who came from the previous period and served us in our period, who conveyed his greetings to me today," İmamoğlu said, "I am very happy. Because I can't forget that he told me the importance of this facility many times, but he couldn't make the management feel it, and gave me the suggestion 'Let's start here quickly'. Therefore, if there are smart managers who listen to smart managers, you already meet such smart works in a system. But if there are arrogant managers who turn their ears to smart managers, you will not see such works. You are only exposed to works or structures that promote self-interest. I thank him for his beautiful mind. Thank you for guiding us in the right way," he said.

“WE WILL UPGRADE WHEN WE COME TO 2023”

Emphasizing that Ahmet İsvan Bread Factory is an important part of the “150 Projects in 150 Days” marathon, İmamoğlu said, “We are this city; We are working to make it much more livable, happy and productive with its rail systems, green areas, advanced infrastructure, social housing, kindergartens and digital investments. We are strengthening Istanbul with investments. And by the end of the year, we will inaugurate or lay the foundations of at least 150 projects. When we come to 2023, we will gear up. We will multiply our services and projects and make them bigger. We will continue to show that this ancient city and beloved nation are not without a home. We will continue to be hope for the youth, children, mothers and orphans of this city. No matter how many obstacles are placed before us; no matter how strange inventions are made; We will never give up, we will never give up. We will continue on our way with hope, with a smiling face, and with our hardest working style.”

KILIÇDAROĞLU STARTED PRODUCTION

After the speeches, the opening ribbon was cut and the production line of the factory to be put into service was started. Kılıçdaroğlu gave the beginning of the production line. Okan Gedik, General Manager of Halk Ekmek, informed the delegation about the production and packaging stages of the bread. At the end of the trip, Kılıçdaroğlu, İmamoğlu and their delegation tasted at the stand where the public bread products were. The first bread to come off the production line was presented to Kılıçdaroğlu. In Turkey's first “sourdough” bread production factory, 200 thousand normal breads will be produced daily, and 1 million “one-person packaged bread” and 200 thousand “sourdough bread” will be produced daily. Thus, the total “normal bread” production capacity of HRE will increase from 1,5 million to 1,8 million pieces.
