Mahmut Ustaosmanoğlu was born in 1931 in Tavşanlı village of Trabzon's Of district. In the first years of his youth, he took lessons from the teachers in the surrounding villages. He got his license at the age of sixteen. Thereupon, he began to teach in his village. He gave permission to his students at an early age, before he reached the age of military service. He retired from the same mosque in 1996 as he turned 65 years old. After the "International Symposium on Service to Humanity" held in Istanbul in 2010, he was awarded the "Outstanding Service to Islam" award. After the death of his first wife, Zehra Ustaosmanoğlu, he married Müşerref Ustaosmanoğlu. Ustaosmanoğlu, who was treated at the hospital on June 6, 2022 due to his illness due to infection, died on June 23, 2022. His body was taken from Fatih Mosque on 24 June.
