TÜRKSAT 5B Satellite will be put into service on 14 June

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that the performance and orbital tests of the Türksat 5B satellite were successfully completed and said, “It is now time to put our satellite into service. We will put Türksat 84B into service on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, with the presence of our President and the participation of 5 million.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a press statement about Türksat 5B Communication Satellite. Karaismailoğlu said, “We are witnessing the developments engraved in the history of our Republic together” and that they have fit the works that cannot be done in 100 years in the last 20 years.

Emphasizing that they are counting down the days to witness another important new development in Turkey's satellite and space marathon, Karaismailoğlu said, “We will soon put Türksat 5B, the newest in our country's 'high efficiency satellite' class, into service in the presence of 84 million people. We are excited about this breakthrough we will make in a strategic field such as communication, at a time when the acquisition and storage of data with national means becomes more and more important every day. The orbital journey of the Türksat 5B communication satellite began on 19 December 2021. That day, at Türksat Headquarters in Ankara, we followed this moment to the second with our nation and youth. We have added a new one to the countless historical days we have shared in the last 20 years.”

NUMBER OF ACTIVE COMMUNICATION SATELLITE WILL RISE TO 5

Noting that the Türksat 5B satellite reached its orbit on May 5 after its 17-month journey, Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows;

“Performance and orbital tests have been successfully completed. It's time to put our satellite into service. We will put Türksat 84B into service on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, with the presence of our President and the participation of 5 million. Thus, the number of active communication satellites in our country will increase to 5. Our satellite that will serve in 42 degrees east orbit; We will have a wide coverage area that will include the whole of the Middle East, the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, North and East Africa, South Africa and its close neighbors. We will be able to provide high speed broadband internet via satellite. With Türksat 5B, our Ka-Band data transmission capacity will also increase 15 times. With the high data capacity of our satellite, we will reach what cannot be reached with terrestrial infrastructure and expand our internet infrastructure. Türksat 35B, which will serve for more than 5 years, will also provide Ku-Band backup of Türksat 3A and Türksat 4A. It will also increase their capacity. Compared to fixed satellite service satellites, Türksat5B's capacity efficiency is at least 20 times higher. Türksat 5B will be the strongest of the Türksat satellite fleet in terms of payload capacity.”

INTEGRATION AND TESTS OF TURKSAT 6A, OUR DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL COMMUNICATION SATELL, CONTINUE

Pointing out that he has completed all transportation and communication infrastructures to a great extent in the last 20 years, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “We have done what we promised. In this process, we have increased our country's scientific and technical infrastructure on satellite and space many times over. In the communication sector; We continue our efforts by aiming to strengthen and expand the information and communication infrastructure, to expand the fiber and broadband infrastructure and its use, to develop effective competition and consumer welfare in the sector, to support domestic and national production, and to develop cyber security. Turkey took its place among the few countries that successfully launched two important satellites, Türksat 5A and Türksat 5B, into space within a year. In the 100th anniversary of our Republic, our goal is to become one of the few countries in the world that designs, integrates and tests its own satellite. In line with this goal, the integration and tests of our domestic and national communication satellite Türksat 6A continue at the TAI Space Systems Integration and Test Center. A significant part of the project's engineering model integration activities and environmental tests have been completed. The development activities on the Flight Model have been completed. We will send Türksat 10A into space on the 6th anniversary of our Republic, which will enable our country to be among the 100 countries capable of producing communication satellites. With TÜRKSAT 6A, our domestic and national satellite that will make us experience the digital revolution, the satellite coverage area of our country will be much wider. Thanks to the Eastern coverage that includes India, our country's internet infrastructure will get closer to the places it deserves.”

IN 20 YEARS, WE HAVE BEEN AGAINST TURKEY

Karaismailoğlu stated that Turkey, a country that can manufacture and test its own satellite, has big goals for the next 10 years, and used the following expressions;

“The strength we derive from our nation will turn into reality thanks to the vision of our President. Our goals are big, our power and effort is high, our work is high, our integrity is complete. Do not forget that; Great countries, great leaders set great goals. They work hard to achieve these goals. With these goals, we will take our place among the top 10 countries in the world that produce their own satellites. Unfortunately, we see that in the eyes of the opposition, to oppose means to be hostile to their country, state, nation and the service rendered. We; In 20 years, we have passed an era for Turkey. We were not satisfied with that. In line with the 2035 and 2053 Visions, we planned the future of the new Turkey and a better future for our youth. We invested 2003 billion dollars from 2021 to the end of 172 in the fields of transportation and communication. In this way, we helped approximately 18 million of our people get jobs and contributed more than 520 billion dollars to the national income. We will contribute 2053 trillion dollars to production and 198 trillion dollars to national income with a total of 2 billion dollars of transportation and communication infrastructure that we will realize from today to 1.”

Noting that every project implemented is actually a team effort, Karaismailoğlu said, “Just like it will be when we comply with Türksat 5A and 5B satellites and Türksat 6A… We support our country's satellite and space studies with its horizon, excitement, knowledge and interest, and state wisdom, in satellite and space studies of our country. I congratulate all institutions and organizations," he said.
