The Intangible Cultural Heritage Bearers Evaluation Board, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, completed its first meetings this year. At the board meeting held under the coordination of the Ministry's General Directorate of Research and Education, 290 masters were entitled to receive an "Artist Identification Card".
The Evaluation Board, consisting of academics, experts and heritage bearers, evaluated nearly 500 applications in many fields from traditional handicrafts to Turkish decorative arts, from music to traditional theater, from minstrel tradition to folk poetry.
As a result of the evaluations, the Board decided that 290 masters who can learn and teach the art they perform with traditional transfer methods, have traditional and historical knowledge in related fields and can produce works that have reached a certain maturity in their art, will be given Artist Identification Cards and registered in the Folk Culture Information and Documentation Center.
Thus, the number of heritage carriers registered in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Research and Education General Directorate Folk Culture Information and Document Center rose to 5 in total.
Making a statement on the subject, Research and Education General Manager Okan İbiş said that people who have an artist identification card are supported by sending them to cultural events such as exhibitions, fairs and festivals held in the country and abroad, thus, heritage carriers contribute to the country's cultural diplomacy as a cultural ambassador. stated.
In addition, İbiş stated that studies are carried out to enable cardholder inheritance carriers to benefit from the support projects carried out by the Ministry in cooperation with different institutions, and continued as follows:
“Through the work we carry out, it is conducive to a deeper perception of our cultural heritage by younger generations and to the recognition of our country's ancient cultural values at home and abroad; We also make a separate contribution to the development of our country's cultural economy and cultural diplomacy.
