At the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, where films from all over the world and all genres take place with their premieres, the short films of the students of the Faculty of Communication met with the cinema lovers.

Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Cinema and Television Department represented the cinema of the future in Cannes with its students this year, at the Cannes Film Festival, one of the most prestigious festivals in the world, held for the 75th time this year. The festival, where famous directors, actors and prominent works of the year come together, also hosts the Cannes Short Film Corner event of the Cannes Film Festival in order to recognize new talents, introduce them to the industry and open their first works to evaluation.

Stating that they have been actively participating in the Cannes Film Festival since 2018, BAU Cinema and Television Department Head Prof. Dr. Nilay Ulusoy said, “75 BAU Communication Faculty students and recent graduates, mostly from the cinema and television department, attended the 17th Cannes Film Festival, our esteemed rector Prof. Dr. They participated in the film festival together with Şirin Karadeniz. While their films were screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner: Short Film Industry, our students and graduates had the opportunity to attend the screenings of world premieres such as Baz Lhurman Elvis and David Crononberg Crimes of the Future. They met with international producers for a week at Cannes Marche du Film, one of the world's most important film markets. They attended interviews with Javier Bardem and Jerome Paillard, director of the Cannes Film Market. They attended the Un Certain Regard Award Ceremony and walked the red carpet. We are very proud to be able to offer this opportunity to young filmmaker candidates.”

The short films included in the "Bahçeşehir University Shorts" selection, which includes 9 short films, are as follows;

  • Makbuş – Oya Erkan
  • Dirty Game – Inspire Icon
  • Bulbulses – Sercan Erdogan
