The Machinery Supply and Repair Department, whose production capacity and functionality has been increased by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, works almost like an industrial site. In the facility, where a wide variety of products from urban furniture to metal doors, from roofs and windows to bridge railings, from benches to stops and garbage cans are manufactured in equipped workshops, savings of 50 percent are achieved every year.
The quality of service units in Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which pays great attention to the efficient use of municipal resources, is increasing day by day. Work efficiency is also increasing at the Machinery Supply and Repair Department Facility, the infrastructure of which was strengthened with new tools and equipment in 2020. The Department, which reduces spare parts and labor costs by performing the maintenance, repair and repair works of buses, trucks and construction equipment in workshops, produces technical solutions to increase the performance of vehicles and reduce fuel consumption.
FROM RECYCLING TO PRODUCTION
The Metropolitan Municipality, which has made the facility based on production by removing it from the concept of only vehicle maintenance, also manufactures different products from recycling materials in wood, metal and design workshops. The process from the first stage of production to assembly is meticulously carried out by the municipality personnel. The products, which are produced by the skillful hands of the master personnel, are mounted in the needed areas and offered to the public.
IT IS WORKING IN EVERY AREA FROM REPAIR TO PRODUCTION
Materials such as bus stops, picnic tables, tubular benches, aesthetic garbage cans, iron fences, rain water gratings, bench legs, railings, sign legs are produced in the metal workshop. The fairy tale heroes appealing to children in the parks and the wax statues of Atatürk and his comrades at the Monument of Honor are cared for in the art workshop. In addition, souvenirs of the symbols of Samsun are produced here and offered for sale in mini-stores belonging to the municipality. Information and direction signs for inner city and district group roads are designed and assembled in the graphic design workshop. Visual digital prints of large advertising signs are also being prepared.
Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which has achieved 50 percent savings in all items according to the market conditions, with the productions carried out in the workshops within its body, made a profit of 2021 million 2 thousand TL in 125 from the tire coating workshop and 1 million 590 thousand TL from the digital printing. Vehicle maintenance and repair costs were also halved.
BECOME A PRODUCTION AND MANUFACTURING CENTER
Stating that they have turned the Machinery Supply and Repair Department facility into a production center, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “When machinery is mentioned in municipalities, places where vehicles are repaired and fuel is supplied come to mind. We have destroyed this perception by turning machinery into a production and manufacturing center. We have increased the performance of our personnel by strengthening the technical infrastructure of our multifunctional workshops. Instead of outsourcing many of the materials required for our city, we now manufacture them in-house. In all units, we carry out productions that will set an example for Turkey. In this way, we achieve significant savings. In this way, we use our municipal budget, which our nation has entrusted to us, efficiently and spend our increased resources on investments," he said.
