Samsun-Amasya and Amasya-Havza regional trains, which were suspended for a while due to road improvement works, started to operate again with a ceremony.

Pezuk emphasized that great investments have been made in the railway sector with the railway priority policies that have been carried out for 20 years, and that it is aimed to bring the transportation systems, including the main backbone of the railway, to an integrating structure and said:

“Our railway transportation is progressing day by day with the projects implemented in line with the objectives of the construction of high-speed and high-speed railway lines, the renewal and modernization of the existing system, the opening of the railway train operation to the private sector, and the development of the domestic and national railway industry.

TCDD Tasimacilik, the leading brand of railway train management, operates trains in a total of 1213 kilometers of railway network, of which 219 kilometers is high-speed, 11 kilometers is fast and 590 thousand 13.022 kilometers is conventional.

With the high-speed trains operated on the Ankara-Istanbul, Ankara-Konya-Karaman, Ankara-Eskişehir and Karaman-Konya-Istanbul lines, 33 percent of the country's population is served directly, while 47 percent of the population is connected to buses and conventional trains.

Pointing out that they attach special importance to regional trains, Pezük stated that the economic, social and cultural life of regional cities, which serve in 37 cities from the west to the east of our country, has revived.

Stating that the regional trains, which serve an average of 33 thousand citizens per day, carry 2022 million passengers in the first 6 months of 5.3, Pezük said that passengers who have to commute daily between close and medium distance cities for their needs such as business, education and visit, save both time and money by using regional trains. TCDD Transportation General Manager Hasan Pezük, who also touched on freight transportation, said that the railways supported the continuity of trade by standing by the manufacturers, industrialists and exporters during the period when the borders were closed, especially during the pandemic period, and the road transport and thus the trade came to a standstill.

“As a result, all-time records were broken in both domestic and international transportation in 2021. Today, our freight trains travel from China to Turkey on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Line and the Middle Corridor called the Iron Silk Road in 12 days, passing through the Marmaray Bosphorus Tube Passage to reach Europe in 18 days and to Russia in 8 days. Providing information about the Samsun-Sivas railway line, Pezük stated that with the Rehabilitation Project of the Samsun-Kalın Railway Line, which was started to be built in 1924 and put into operation in 1931 and was almost untouched until 2015, the infrastructure and superstructure of the 431-kilometer line were renewed and opened to freight transportation on November 1, 2020. reminded.

Noting that the line, whose line capacity and capability has been increased with an investment of 350 million Euros, has a very strong function at the connection point to the Black Sea, since it is a line that goes both to the east and south axis, Pezuk said, “With 200 freight trains per day, 91 thousand tons of cargo. Samsun-Sivas railway line, which is one of the most important freight corridors of our organization, is one of the most important routes of our country's export and import with its connection to Samsun Port. said.

“The resumption of passenger transportation on the Samsun-Amasya line was delayed a bit due to the pandemic and even the ongoing technical studies. We are happy to restart the regional train operation between Samsun-Amasya with a length of 133 kilometers and Amasya-Havza with a length of 47 kilometers, which has been modernized between Sivas and Samsun, in a more comfortable way than before.

These regional trains, which are expected to serve 200 thousand passengers a year, will make 2 trips between Samsun-Amasya-Samsun in the morning and evening, and a total of 6 trips between Amasya-Havza-Amasya.
