Minister Karaismailoğlu will switch to 5G with domestic and national devices

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu emphasized that in the next phases of the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project, higher-capacity and advanced versions of the products will be produced, “While 5-layer radio units were developed for the 8G base station in the first phase, we will develop 64-layer radio products in the next phases. . Thus, we will supply domestic and national 5G products to the market as equivalent to the products of foreign suppliers in the market. "We will switch to 5G in our country by using domestic and national network products to the maximum extent," he said.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the Communication Technologies Cluster 5G Phase 2 Information Meeting. Making a press statement after the meeting, Karaismailoğlu said, “As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we have taken very important steps in the transportation and communication infrastructure of our country, which will literally 'get through the era'. We continue to throw. As the representatives of a team that has implemented centuries-old investments in 20 years, we have achieved and will continue to achieve many successes in communication technologies. Undoubtedly, in everything we do today, in every step we take, our path leads to knowledge and informatics. While the production, sharing and access to information reach dizzying speeds, the rules of the game are also changing. If you do not produce the knowledge, if you do not turn the knowledge you produce into a product and if you cannot market this product to the world, neither your progress nor development is possible. Using other countries' technologies is no longer sustainable in terms of country resources and interests. We, who have reached the position of exporting engineering from infrastructure projects to the whole world, do not hesitate to achieve the same success in the field of communication," he said.

Karaismailoğlu stated that with these studies, the future of the information technology sector is discussed with the titles of domestic production, high technology and global brand, and that with the success of the information sector in these three phases, Turkey will cover a great distance both in closing the current account deficit and in exports.

VARIOUS DEMO SCREENINGS WERE MADE THROUGH DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL 5G BASE STATIONS

Karaismailoğlu said, “We established the 'Communication Technologies Cluster' under the coordination of our Ministry and Information Technologies and Communications Authority in 2017 in order to develop a 'domestic and national production ecosystem' in the electronic communication sector.

“The Communication Technologies Cluster, which we have continuously developed since then, has turned into a large organization that includes more than 160 companies and more than 8 thousand employees. The Communication Technologies cluster has reached an important position for the domestic production ecosystem. We strategically plan all kinds of investments related to informatics. In particular, the development of 5G technologies has been embraced by our government at the highest level. In this context, we have developed the 'End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project' with our HTK member companies. It is one of the most important pillars of the domestic and national production efforts initiated by our President. The first phase of our project, in which the most important technology companies of our country take part, was completed in March-2021. With the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project, critical network hardware and software specific to 5G technology such as 5G base stations, 5G core network, 5G network management and operational software and 5G virtualization platform were developed. Various 5G call and data transfer scenarios were tested via commercial 5G phones over the end-to-end 5G network created using domestic and national products. Various demo demonstrations were made over domestic and national 4.5G base stations that can be connected to existing commercial 5G mobile networks. One of the valuable results in this context was the fact that 10 companies carrying out important tasks in our project came together and established Global Telekom and Entegre Teknolojiler AŞ. This company represents the cooperation in the sector, as well as the single-handed execution of the commercialization and branding activities of the products developed within the scope of the project. With Global Telekom and Entegre Teknolojiler AŞ, we aim for a Turkish company to compete on a global scale with companies such as Ericsson, Huawei and Nokia in the field of telecommunications.”

WE ATTENTION TO SUPPORTING DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL PRODUCT PROJECTS

Noting that in the next phases of the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project, higher-capacity and advanced versions of the products will be produced, Karaismailoğlu said, “While an 5-layer radio unit was developed for the 8G base station in the first phase, we will develop 64-layer radio products in the next phases. Thus, we will supply domestic and national 5G products to the market as equivalent to the products of foreign suppliers in the market. We attach great importance to supporting domestic and national product projects for the electronic communication sector. In this context, we continue to work to support the next phases of the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project. We will switch to 5G in our country by using domestic and national network products to the maximum extent. And in order to do this with our domestic and national products, our producer companies have important duties. On the other hand, in order for the transition to 5G to be successful, the necessary conversion must be provided by the user terminal. We are following this closely," he said.

THE MOST IMPORTANT EXPORT IS THE EXPORT OF ZERO KG OF “TECHNOLOGY”

In addition, underlining that one of the priority targets of the studies carried out within the scope of domestic and national production in Turkey is to open up to foreign markets with products, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “In the domestic market, within the scope of 4.5G authorization, approximately 2 billion TL of hardware and software investment per year is made by the operators in the current situation. We see it done. With 5G, this figure will increase even more. According to the reports published by the GSM Association, which was established in 1995 to develop global mobile operator standards; It is estimated that 2020 trillion dollars will be invested in mobile networks by operators in the world between 2025-1.1, and about 80 percent of this will be for 5G technology. This situation shows us that there is a great potential in terms of both the domestic and foreign markets. We aim to benefit from this potential to the maximum extent with domestic and national production studies. Because we know that the most important export is zero kilogram "technology" export. Thus, we know that a very serious contribution can be made to the reduction of our country's current account deficit. Our project; I would also like to underline that it is a very important value that will support our growth strategy focused on investment, employment, production, exports and current surplus. Because we produce strategic projects for the strategic position of our country. We believe, set out and turn our dreams into reality”.

THE RATE OF LOCALITY PASSED 33 PERCENT

Stating that they see 5G not only as a communication technology but also among the priority issues in terms of Turkey's national security, Karaismailoğlu stated that an important vision for the sector was drawn with the 'domestic obligations' determined by the Ministry of Transport in the 4.5G tender. Pointing out that the rate of locality, which was 4.5 percent in the first investment period of 1G, has exceeded 2020 percent as of the 2021-33 investment period, Karaismailoğlu said, “However, we do not find this rate sufficient. First of all, we expect the operators to fulfill the domesticity target of 45 percent. The nationalization of critical components for 5G and beyond technologies is also our main priority. On the way to 5G, we have taken important steps to support and protect the domestic and national production ecosystem. From now on, we will continue to develop the most appropriate solutions by taking the opinions of our sector stakeholders.”

THE VOLUME OF THE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES INDUSTRY INCREASED TO 189 BILLION TL

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu stated that the middle-aged and older generations know very well what Turkey is going through in the field of electronic communication and from where they came here. told. Expressing that the number of subscribers benefiting from mobile services is approaching 2003 million, Karaismailoğlu said, “The number of broadband internet subscribers, which we considered almost non-existent in 20, has reached 2021 million today. The number of our fiber subscribers has reached approximately 189 million, and more than 87 million of our citizens benefit from fiber internet service in the context of households. When we look at the number of households reached by fiber infrastructure and cable internet, our communication infrastructures are; It has the capacity to serve at speeds of 2003 Mbit/s and above, which is nearly three times the current 87,5 million subscribers.”

WE WILL PROVIDE HIGH-SPEED BROADBAND INTERNET SERVICE WITH TURKSAT 5B

Reminding that Türksat 9B, Turkey's most efficient and powerful satellite, was put into service 5 days ago, Karaismailoğlu said, “Türksat 5B; It has a wide coverage area including the whole of the Middle East, the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, North and East Africa, South Africa and its close neighbors. We will also provide high-speed broadband internet service over our new satellite. We will increase the existing Ka-Band data transmission capacity by more than 15 times. With our new satellite, we will expand our internet infrastructure in regions that cannot be accessed by terrestrial infrastructure. With Türksat 5B, a data transmission capacity of more than 55 gigabits, we will be active in consumer and corporate satellite internet services in much wider geographies. In the last 20 years, we have invested more than 172 billion dollars in our country's transportation and communication infrastructure. We contributed more than 520 billion dollars to our national income with our investments. We aim to make transportation and communication investments of 2053 billion dollars until 198. We will contribute 2053 trillion dollars to production and 198 trillion dollars to national income with a total transportation and communication investment of 2 billion dollars, which we will realize from today until 1. As the Ministry, we will continue to do whatever is necessary for the development of both the transportation and communication sectors, taking into account our country's interests.”
