Star Girls of Mercedes-Benz Türk Came Together in Istanbul

The “Every Girl is a Star” program, which Mercedes-Benz Türk launched with the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life in 2004, continues to grow stronger and stronger.

Supporting the economic development of Turkey for 55 years with its employment, investments, exports and financial sustainability, Mercedes-Benz Türk also supports the empowerment of women in social and economic life with its different programs. In this context, the "Every Girl is a Star" program, which was launched in 2004, continues to grow stronger each year. "Opportunity Equality; Acting with the approach of “sustainable development is indispensable for our common future and common welfare”, Mercedes-Benz Türk's program started by supporting 17 girls in 200 provinces with the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life (ÇYDD) celebrates its 18th anniversary.

Welcoming Yıldız Girls in its traditional Istanbul visit on 23 June 2022, Mercedes-Benz Türk; It brought together 25 Star Girls from Adana, Antep, Kırşehir, Samsun and Çanakkale in Istanbul. Mercedes-Benz Türk Chief Executive Officer Süer Sülün, ÇYDD Scholarship Unit Responsible Board Member Prof. Dr. Cihan Tansel Demirci and ÇYDD Deputy Chairman Atty. At the meeting held with the participation of Sedat Durna, the latest updated information about the Every Girl is a Star program was also shared.

Mercedes-Benz Türk Chief Executive Officer Süer Sülün said in his speech: “All our efforts are to support the sustainable development of Turkey, to strengthen the young generations and to build a better world together. The young generation of our country carries the energy that will establish the future of our country. ÇYDD Scholarship Unit Responsible Board Member Prof. Dr. Cihan Tansel Demirci, on the other hand, said, “In this journey we embarked on for the education of our female students, we move forward with the Mercedes-Benz Türk family and ensure that our young girls gain the power they deserve in every field; We aim to provide equal opportunities for women in the social and economic life where men are privileged. The project, which started 18 years ago with 200 female students, is supported by Mercedes-Benz Türk as well as dealers, supplier industry companies and Mercedes-Benz Türk employees. Thanks to these supports, we have reached 60 thousand high school girls and 6 young female university students from 850 provinces of Turkey, and we have hope for the modern future.”

The development of Star Girls is supported

Every year, 200 female students, 1.000 of whom are university students, receive education scholarships from Mercedes-Benz Türk in the Every Girl is a Star program, which was initiated in line with the goal of “women in Turkey can work with men in every field with equal social and economic conditions”. In addition to educational scholarships, students also participate in various programs designed for their personal and professional development.

With the personal development workshops that started in 2013, 33 provinces have been visited so far and personal development training has been given to more than 800 Star Girls. Since 2004, more than 400 Star Girls have been hosted in Istanbul with various cultural events. With the information technologies and coding trainings that started in 2018, more than 250 scholars were trained.

Job opportunities are created for graduate star scholarship holders

Students who complete their education by receiving a scholarship from the Every Girl is a Star program also have the opportunity to be employed at Mercedes-Benz Türk. 20 percent of the women working in production in the company are students who have completed their education with the Every Girl is a Star program.

Mercedes-Benz Turk is working for gender equality

Mercedes-Benz Türk, with a female ratio of over 2021 percent in office workers in 30, is moving forward in line with the targets of its umbrella company Daimler Truck in terms of women's employment. Mercedes-Benz Türk, which sets various targets to ensure gender equality within the company, also monitors the implementation of these targets. The company, which carries out extensive studies within the framework of the "Management of Differences" initiated in 2008; By signing Daimler Truck's “Global Compact” and “Social Responsibility Principles” and publishing the “Code of Conduct”, it has ensured its commitment to gender equality at the highest level.
