The presentation of the "Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Support Administration (KOSGEB) Living Cultural Heritage Enterprises Support Program" and the cooperation protocol signing ceremony was held with the participation of Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank.
Speaking at the signing ceremony at Atatürk Cultural Center, Minister Ersoy explained that they have organized a support program to contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage that has survived through a journey that has passed through the ages. Ersoy continued as follows:
“Mass culture not only threatens local values and modes of production based on these values, but also imposes uniformity. Even the most ancient civilizations and the oldest cultures in the history of humanity are trying to protect themselves against this imposition and to reveal their originality. We do not only see this standardizing effect in the commercial field, but also in the independent fields such as music, fashion, art, architecture, urbanism or consumption habits, and observe the effect of the global wind. Unfortunately, traditional cultures that humanity has produced over thousands of years and handed down from generation to generation are at great risk today.”

Minister Ersoy explained that they carried out studies for the protection of cultural heritage. Pointing out that Turkey is one of the exemplary countries in the context of the Convention on the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage signed under the umbrella of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ersoy said:
“We are the 21th country with the highest number of cultural values, with 4 elements registered on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists. In addition, since 2008, valuable names that strengthen the cultural bond between the past and the present have been declared as Living Human Treasures. Today, together with our Ministry of Industry and Technology, we are implementing the Living Cultural Heritage Businesses Support Program to strengthen businesses that have traditional, cultural and artistic values and are on the verge of disappearing, and to transfer this knowledge to future generations. In this context, we will provide support through KOSGEB to businesses that have been given an Artist Identification Card by our Ministry or that are included in the National Inventory of Living Human Treasures, or that are on the List of Occupations with Traditional, Cultural or Artistic Value on the Decay, published by our Ministry of Commerce.
Underlining that 4 types of support are planned for businesses, namely grants, establishment expenses, business and training support, machinery-equipment expenses, and promotion and marketing support, Ersoy said, “Thanks to the support program, we both revitalize the master-apprentice relationship in our tradition and support the artists with their workforce and improve their workshops. It is aimed to meet the needs of trained personnel by learning the professions of the people on-site.” used the phrases.
Emphasizing that they want young people to grow up with their own culture and civilization values, have a personality, produce and be strong, Ersoy stated that they will continue to strive for the preservation of the cultural heritage and the preservation of the talents of the masters and craftsmen of these lands, which are the products of their historical background.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, KOSGEB President Hasan Basri Kurt, Beyoğlu Mayor Haydar Ali Yıldız, Esenler Mayor Mehmet Tevfik Göksu, Pendik Mayor Ahmet Cin, Sultangazi Mayor Abdurrahman Dursun, Ministry of Culture and Tourism Research and Development. Education General Manager Okan Ibiş and Istanbul Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Coşkun Yılmaz also attended.

About the support program
With the non-refundable support, it is aimed to transfer professions with traditional, cultural and artistic value to future generations. Within the framework of the program, up to 250 thousand liras will be given to the professions that are about to disappear. Thus, it is aimed to transfer professions with traditional, cultural and artistic value to future generations. In this context, cooperation was established between KOSGEB and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Research and Education.
The Living Cultural Heritage Enterprises Support program will contribute to the training of new craftsmen within the framework of the master-apprentice relationship.
