Premium automobile manufacturer Lexus celebrates World Cycling Day with its bicycle user-friendly technology, which is offered for the first time in the world with the NX model.
The Safe Exit Assistant in the Lexus NX model prevents accidents that occur when the vehicle doors are opened as soon as the cyclist passes.
On World Bicycle Day, celebrated on June 3, the focus was on the accidents with the opening of the doors. Lexus broke new ground with its technology that can prevent these door opening accidents, which can result in serious injuries and even death.
The Safe Exit Assistant, which was introduced for the first time in Lexus models with the new NX SUV model, combines the new e-latch electronic door and blind spot monitor. The system detects oncoming bikes and vehicles. When a risk occurs, it warns the driver and passengers with its lights in the outside rear view mirror and on the instrument screen. It also prevents the opening of electronic doors, which are opened with a button instead of a door handle.
Lexus believes that this technology will prevent 95 percent of accidents when doors are opened. The technology, which was first introduced in the Lexus NX model, will also be offered in new Lexus models.
