Continuing its infrastructure and superstructure investments in order to improve amateur fishing in Samsun, the Metropolitan Municipality is transforming Batıpark Fisherman's Shelter into a modern facility. The municipality, which built 171 huts with aesthetic architecture instead of demolished makeshift barracks, completed most of the construction work. Kadir Tezcanlı, President of Batı Park Anglers and Water Sports Association, said, “I have been here since 1985. I could not have imagined the change here. Our water has arrived. There are toilets for men, women and disabled people. We got rid of visual pollution," he said.

In Samsun, which has the longest coast of the Black Sea Region, work continues at Batıpark Fisherman's Shelter, the meeting point of amateur fishermen. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which has solved the water and toilet problem for many years in cooperation with the Batıpark Anglers and Water Sports Association, removed all the porches that the fishermen built with their own means and caused visual pollution.

In order to transform the emptied and expanded area into a modern living space for anglers, the Metropolitan Municipality designed 171 concrete huts with aesthetics suitable for the beach. The municipality, which has made great progress in the construction works, is performing the thin plastering of the 10 square meter cottages. Anglers, who prepare their boats for the fishing season, also help the municipality teams in the construction works.

WILL BE SERVICED BY CEREMONY

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which will place security cameras after painting, will also keep the entrances and exits to the facility under control. It will also build a small fisherman's restaurant close to the shelter for the citizens. The amateur fisherman's shelter, which will be delivered to its owners after 2 months, will be put into service with a ceremony.

THE SERVICE WE CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE HAS COME

Expressing their admiration for the modernization works carried out in their shelters, Batı Park Anglers and Water Sports Association President Kadir Tezcanlı said, “I have been here since 1985. I could not have imagined the change here. Our water has arrived. There are toilets for men, women and disabled people. We got rid of visual pollution. I am proud of Samsun. A new order is being established here,” he said, adding, “We prepared a joint charter with our municipality and had our members sign it. We will not accommodate those who drink alcohol and those who are outraged. Our shelter becomes a decent environment where everyone can come and eat fish. At the moment, our friends and colleagues on the Turkish coast are talking about the work done. This is a plus point for Samsun and our municipality. We are grateful to our Metropolitan Mayor, Mustafa Demir, for his support and investments.”

Underlining that they will continue to develop and expand amateur angling in Samsun, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir noted that they will continue to invest in order to meet the high demand. Stating that they are trying to make Batıpark Fisherman's Shelter a modern facility open to the public, Mayor Demir said, “Our Batı Park beach is one of the most beautiful locations in our city. We attach great importance to it. In order to improve the living conditions of our amateur anglers stationed in Batıpark and contribute to the promotion of our city, we had to establish a clean and aesthetic order there. We started working in cooperation with our association. We demolished all the porch type sheds that caused visual pollution. We make uniform concrete shelters for each of our fishermen. We are also planning a small fish restaurant there. Our people will be able to go and eat fresh fish whenever they want. We will put it into service when the constructions are completed in a short time. May it be good for our fishermen and our city.”
