Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu's private collection, which has been created since the 1990s, was brought together in the new culture and art point of the city, Gallery Beylikdüzü. IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat was opened to visitors by Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık with a ceremony attended by artists and guests who contributed with their works.

CONDITIONS TO THE IMAMOĞLU FAMILY

Speaking to the guests at the opening of the gallery, Çalık started his speech by conveying his condolences to the İmamoğlu family for the death of Dilek İmamoğlu's uncle. He stated that he undertook the opening task upon the request of Mayor İmamoğlu not to delay the opening of the gallery. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, together with President İmamoğlu, said, “Art is the expression of beauty. Noting that Gallery Beylikdüzü will serve as an art venue that prioritizes the youth and women, Çalık said, “Gallery Beylikdüzü will present this city with a versatile museum environment with its rich collection, international temporary exhibitions, conservation units, exemplary education programs, various concerts, conferences and seminars. It will make a significant contribution to Istanbul's extraordinary cultural and artistic richness in districts outside the center," he said.

ABOUT 'EKREM İMAMOĞLU SPECIAL COLLECTION'

Gallery Beylikdüzü's first exhibition 'Ekrem İmamoğlu Mahir Polat, Deputy Secretary General of IMM, is the curator of the Special Collection. Valuable works bearing the signatures of 103 artists; From illustration to drawing, from engraving to sculpture, from print art to digital art, it sheds light on the cycle of search for expression that has continued for nearly 100 years. The collection includes over 400 works in total.

In the collection, there is a section that includes artists between 1899-1925, the birth years of Turkish painting art history. In this chapter; There are series of artists such as Şeref Akdik, Sabri Berkel, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, İbrahim Balaban, Cihat Burak and Adnan Turani.

Another important part of the collection is composed of artists born in the 1940s-1960s, who have come to the fore in Turkey's art history, especially with their teacher artist/designer roles. In this section, there are paintings by artists such as Süleyman Saim Tekcan, Zahit Büyükişenler, Hayati Misman, Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu, Gülsün Karamustafa, Hüsamettin Koçan, Aydın Ayan, Nevzat Sayın and Mahir Güven.

Ekrem İmamoğlu The third important denominator of the Art Collection is the one born in the 1980s-1990s; consists of current names who draw attention with their painting, photography, graphic, new media and video works.
