Approximately 2 kilograms of cocaine was seized in two separate operations carried out at Istanbul Airport by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement Narkokim teams.

Within the scope of combating drug smuggling activities carried out by the teams of the Istanbul Airport Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, a risk analysis study was carried out for passengers traveling by air via the Intelligence Information System and Pre-Arrival Passenger Notification System.

In this context, firstly, a foreign national traveling by plane from Baku to Istanbul was considered as a suspect and followed. The aircraft was monitored by the Air Tracking System and precautions were taken at the bellows where the aircraft will dock. Narkokim teams searched the passenger who exhibited suspicious behavior and took the luggage of another passenger belonging to the Mexico-Istanbul flight, as well as the bags that were with him.

During the control of the passenger's baggage given under the plane with narcotic detector dogs; As a result of the overreaction of the narcotic detector dogs to the suitcase of the person, suspicious density was detected in the bags, which were subjected to x-ray scanning. About 30 kilograms of cocaine were seized during a search of the person's suitcase by the Customs Enforcement Narkokim teams.

In the second operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement Narkokim teams, the teams that signed a very interesting capture evaluated a passenger who was going to transit from Panama to Turkey and then to Nigeria as a suspect. The suspicions of the teams who were looking for the arm bag and make-up bag belonging to the suspected foreign national were not in vain. During the search of the passenger's bag, approximately 6 kilograms of cocaine was seized, hidden in children's books and cosmetic products.

While 2 persons were detained in 5 separate operations, judicial investigations regarding the incidents are continuing.
