Social Security Specialist (SGK) Özgür Kaya made an exciting claim about the minimum wage interim hike in TGRT News. “As you know, at the beginning of 2022, the minimum wage was increased by 50 percent. However, at this point, almost 40 percent of the hike made in the first six-month period has melted away. There is only a 10% hike left,” said Özgür Kaya, adding, “When we look at the field, we see that this 10% hike was not felt. Therefore, if the minimum wage is not increased in the second six-month period of 2022, it will be as if no increase has been made.”

Drawing attention to the minimum wage hike on Monday, Kaya said, “There has been a statement recently that the employer has looked at the issue of increasing the minimum wage positively and that 'we will put our hands on the stone'. It is likely that an announcement will be made about the minimum wage hike in the next few days or over the weekend. In my opinion, we expect the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Bilgin, to make a statement on the minimum wage increase on Sunday or Monday at the latest. The process is progressing rapidly to reach the end of June. The Minimum Wage Fixing Commission, or government meeting, is expected. In fact, a raise can be made in line with the decision of the Ministry, without even convening the Minimum Wage Determination Commission. As you know, we see an annual inflation rate of 73 percent. These inflation figures make a difference of 50-23 percent when the 24 percent increase given at the beginning of the year is deducted. In my opinion, there should be a 23-24 percent increase in the minimum wage.”
