• 2002 – A Russian river type ship named “Modisk” and a passenger boat named “Aqua-2” collided in the Bosphorus. The bodies of 4 of the 2 passengers lost in the sinking boat were found.
• 2007 - Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams became the title of longest female astronaut in space.
• 2013 – During the Gezi Park protests, Berkin Elvan was shot with a gas canister. Berkin, who was in a coma for months, died on March 11, 2014.
• 2015 – Michael Clifford, guitarist in 5 Seconds of Summer, burned his hair and was slightly injured by visual flares during the concert in London.
