Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer participated in the First Export Truck Farewell Program within the Scope of School-Industry Cooperation Model.

Kucukcekmece Dr. Speaking at the program held at Oktay Duran Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that there are two critical criteria for the development of a country and said, “Human capital capacity and production capacity. If you cannot increase the quality of your human capital and match it with production, it is not possible to compete with other countries in this fiercely competitive world. Here, as the Ministry of National Education, we take great care to raise our young people, who will build our future, by raising our human capital and increasing its quality, on the other hand, raising them with production, innovation and entrepreneurship culture. One of the most critical types of education in this field is vocational education.” said.

Expressing that vocational education is going through a lot of pain in this country, Minister Özer said: “Thank God we don't look to the past anymore. We do not look at who did what in the past. This period, on the one hand, was a period in which the massification and universalization in education came to an end in the last 20 years, on the other hand, it was a period in which the costs of the previous wrong education policies and social engineering projects in the education system were compensated. Vocational education is one of them. Now we are talking about the students who are in the 1 percent success rate in vocational education. Students who go to science high school now prefer vocational high schools. We are talking about the increase in production capacity in vocational education. In 2021, our vocational high schools generated 1 billion 162 million revenues across Turkey. It's an awesome number. Three years ago it was in the 200-hundred-millions band.”

In 2021, students received 50 million and teachers 112 million dividends.

Emphasizing that students now learn by doing and producing in vocational education institutions, Özer said: “The dividend we distributed to our students in 2021 has exceeded 50 million. We distributed 112 million liras to our teachers. Our target in 2022 is an income of 1,5 billion. Our revenue in the first five months reached 2021 million, an increase of 231 percent from revenue in 560. We will close the year 2022 with an income of over 2 billion, I believe.”

Pointing out that the production capacity of vocational education institutions is increasing day by day, Minister Özer said, “Not only these schools, but also gastronomy, electricity, biomedical device technology and agriculture; in other words, we are talking about production in all areas where vocational training is given. It is not enough, we are talking about intellectual property and innovative works. We're talking about a patent, a utility model, a brand, a design. In fact, we no longer have a problem in vocational training related to this registration culture. Our goal in 2022 is how can we commercialize it now? We were trying to figure out how to move it to the next phase. Thank God, we have commercialized 74 patents, utility model trademarks and design registrations.” he said.

A first among vocational high schools: Exporting abroad

Expressing his happiness to be together for the farewell of an export going abroad for the first time, Özer said, “Now there are good stories in vocational education, the problems are in the past. We are now looking ahead. Of course, the biggest reason for these to emerge is the steps we have taken together with the Istanbul Chamber of Industry and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.” used the phrases.

Reminding that there are 55 R&D centers in vocational and technical Anatolian high schools throughout Turkey, Özer said. Announcing that they have declared the Oktay Duran Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School as the 56th R&D center, he noted that all vocational high schools in Istanbul are now under the patronage of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.

Stating that vocational training centers also have a critical importance, Minister Özer said that it fills a huge gap in meeting the need for apprentices and journeymen in Turkey, and vocational training centers gained incredible momentum with the law amendment we made on 25 December. While the number of apprentices and journeymen in Turkey is 159 thousand, I said 70 thousand when you attended the 510th anniversary of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, today it is 520 thousand. Our goal is to bring 2022 million young people together with vocational training centers by the end of 1. Hopefully, I believe that if we spend July and August very productively, we will be able to reach 750 thousand at the beginning of September.”

Minister Özer, who also shared that they are happy with the completion of the 2021-2022 academic year, stated that face-to-face education is not interrupted by the support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and by strictly following the recommendations of the Health Science Board. Minister Özer stated that he congratulated the devoted teachers, whom he described as the heroes of the process, one by one, and said, "Just as we gave a certificate of achievement to all our teachers and administrative staff at the end of the first term, we also sent the second certificate of achievement as of today. Therefore, for the first time in the history of National Education, we witnessed a period in which all teachers and administrative personnel were given certificates of achievement twice a year, because this is very critical. It was to make a mark on history. We, with our teachers, students, parents and guardians, have shown the whole community that: Schools are the safest places in a society if we follow the rules; this is one… Two: Schools are not just places where education takes place. Schools are also places where our children do their peer education, common culture, art and sports activities by supporting their psychological, social and emotional development.

Underlining that no perfect distance education platform can replace face-to-face education, Minister Özer noted that he is happy to successfully complete the path they set out to strengthen equality of opportunity in education. Congratulating all the students, Özer said that the Ministry of National Education will not leave them alone during this summer break. Stating that students can benefit from this opportunity free of charge by applying to science and arts, mathematics and English summer schools wherever they go in Turkey, Özer said that 16 new libraries established in schools within the scope of the "School Without Libraries" project carried out under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan will be open throughout the summer. expressed. Ozer; invited students and parents to actively benefit from the libraries.

At the end of his speech, Minister Özer thanked the school's administrators, teachers, students and everyone who contributed to this process.

After the speeches, Minister Özer and the accompanying protocol bid farewell to the first export truck within the scope of the school-industry cooperation model.
