President İmamoğlu Speaks at the 'Istanbul Employment Fair and Summit'

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlumade the opening speech of the 'Istanbul Employment Fair and Summit', which aims to bring young job seekers and employers together. Pointing out that there is a young population of 400-500 thousand in Istanbul who could not receive education and have not been able to acquire a profession, İmamoğlu said, “Torpedism, merit, manhood, nepotism… All these are feelings that shake the trust in the country. We have to destroy it. And it is indeed a great plague. I will be a ruler who never bears this plague. Wherever I am, I will never carry this plague. I want whoever deserves to walk their journey, win and climb the steps. Then there will definitely be success in this country, definitely," he said.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Yenikapi Dr. The “Istanbul Employment Fair and Summit” organized at the Architect Kadir Topbaş Show and Art Center has started. The opening speech of the summit, which will be held on 3-4 June and will bring together the youth and more than 130 companies, was delivered by the IMM President. Ekrem İmamoğlu made. İmamoğlu was greeted at the entrance of the event area by the female students staying in the dormitories of the İBB. Saying, “My student friends in our girls' dormitories support this fair voluntarily,” İmamoğlu said, “We exceeded the 600 student capacity in our dormitories. We will take 2000 students in September. Then we will quickly increase this number to 5000 students”.

“IMM HAS ZERO (0) STUDENT DORMITORY WHEN WE BROUGHT IT”

Stating that they see the need in this area, İmamoğlu said, “Every young person living here should experience and feel this city. It will be a great advantage for us to enable our students in the student dormitories of IMM to establish this organic bond more easily. Even if the student capacity was zero (0) when we bought it, 10, 15, 20 thousand students… In fact, there are buildings that have that student capacity. In Istanbul, there are buildings that IMM built, furnished, equipped, and even paid for. If he had kept them within himself, it would have belonged to the municipality. What would happen if it was the municipality? There would be 30-40-50 thousand volunteers and brilliant students. We would have beautiful young girls, handsome young boys, and they would be volunteers of our Istanbul Municipality, this city. If there was a mishap on the street, he would let us know. Of course, the digital world has great advantages. But no matter how successful the digital world is, it cannot be without humans.

“UNEMPLOYMENT RATES ARE TERRIBLE”

Emphasizing that they aim to bring together the existing human resources and employers with the summit they organized, İmamoğlu said, “Just here, we need to talk about unemployment and employment, which is perhaps one of the most important agenda items and one of the most serious problems of our country; Unfortunately, it is not only the young people who have the problem that disturbs and depresses the society the most, but also their mothers, fathers and even their grandparents, grandmothers and grandmothers, as well as the young people who have that problem. We must solve this problem. When we look at unemployment rates today, it's really scary and scary. Youth unemployment is even worse. In youth unemployment rates, especially among university graduates, we are talking about unemployment over 30 percent. Even though they say in a written communiqué, 'Nobody can disclose data except TÜİK', we will continue to run our effective institution, the Istanbul Statistics Office, in order to contribute to our own policies.”

"THE PEOPLE SAY WE DON'T WANT THE ARTISTS YOUTH WANT"

Pointing out that there is a young population of 400-500 thousand in Istanbul who could not receive education and have not been able to acquire a profession, İmamoğlu said, “Another issue; hiring events. Torpedo, merit, manliness, nepotism… All these are feelings that undermine confidence in the country. We have to destroy it. And it is indeed a great plague. I will be a ruler who never bears this plague. Wherever I am, I will never carry this plague. I want whoever deserves to walk their journey, win and climb the steps. Then there will definitely be success in this country, definitely," he said. Saying, “Young people face other problems besides all these," İmamoğlu said:

“It is now possible to interfere with their lifestyles, entertainments, festivals and even concerts. Some people say 'we don't want' and reject the artists that young people want. But we will get through this jam. Let me tell you this: In any town in Turkey, there are still hundreds of municipalities where they can see examples where they can overcome their stuckness and feel free. Chief among these is the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Your space of freedom is available here. Never forget this. And we promise to all young people. Definitely look to the future with hope, it's almost time. You will meet with a management that is aware of your strength, and a management that is aware that you are the value of this country and that when a ground is prepared for you, you will carry it much further. Don't be in any doubt about it," he said.

“THE THE RIGHT DECISION WILL BE FROM THE BATCH”

Emphasizing that the main determinant of the upcoming process is the youth, İmamoğlu said, “Don't say, 'It's none of my business'. Perhaps for the first time in the history of the Republic of Turkey, we are in a process that concerns the youth and young people so much. You need to take a very active role in determining your life. If it's on your heart, force the journey of politics too. There is no problem with that. But I am not necessarily talking about being a politician, being interested in politics or being a member of a political party. Show your interest in the process and reveal your knowledge as those brave hearts of the society who want justice, equality, and say 'I want it if it's my right, I don't want it if it's not my right'. In this mobilization process, tell your experiences and what you want to experience, to your relatives or peers or families. You will see, the right decision will come out of that ballot box. And you will be the architects of this right decision.”

“THE LANGUAGE THAT MADE THE INSPECTION CANNOT BE THE LANGUAGE OF THE STATE”

Pointing out that children under the age of 18 will also be effective in the process, İmamoğlu gave examples from the memories he had while wandering the streets of Istanbul. Saying, “Children, unfortunately, follow politics,” İmamoğlu said:

“I wish they had real agendas; If only we could talk about unemployment, this, this, education, their tastes, culture and art. But this is being talked about, they want them. While watching television, we also have to 'beep' for a long time, because of the insults. The language that makes those insults cannot be the language of the state. Therefore, we are the Mayor of the whole society. Yesterday, young people at Galatasaray University asked me: 'What if you made a mistake like this…' As you know, we have a few mistakes in sentences. God bless. But I'm human, I can make mistakes. But saying 'I am human' is not enough. There is another dimension to being human: You can make mistakes, but as a virtuous person you have to apologize, you have to apologize. You should come out and apologize. I wish so too. Let me do it again, I wish again. Not making the same mistake is another virtue. It is also a virtue not to continue the same mistakes. Therefore, from this perspective, we invite you to be active individuals in this process, in which even children will be interested.”

“UNEMPLOYMENT IS THE PROBLEM OF ALL TURKEY”

Emphasizing that unemployment is a problem not only for Istanbul, but for all cities in Turkey, İmamoğlu said, “When you cannot solve this problem here, it is not time to talk about other inequalities. In addition to this unemployment problem of our youth, our companies, which I would like to express with the concept of education, are also looking for qualified workforce. We are also faced with such a problem. However, our country has bright, talented, smart, intelligent young people. But we said that it is our municipality's job to direct them to the right career and to enable them to work in environments and institutions where they can demonstrate their talents and thus be happy. We said that it is also a responsibility of our municipality. These concepts did not exist in our municipality. There were no Regional Employment Offices. There were also no ISMEK courses linked to the Regional Employment Offices. Of course, ISMEK had vocational courses. I'm not doing him an injustice, but we have activated a much more integrated, much more connected process. This is exactly what this fair and this summit is a meeting that we attach great importance to from this point of view”.

“WE ARE HAPPY TOGETHER WITH EVERY CITIZEN WE ENTER INTO EMPLOYMENT”

Noting that the summit was hosted by IMM Regional Employment Offices, İmamoğlu said, “As you know, we opened our employment offices to bring job seekers and private sector employers together, and to support our citizens' job search. Our Regional Employment Offices serve our 13 districts with 39 offices as well as the Mobile Employment Office that meets with job seekers in a different district of Istanbul every week. With a pool of more than 400.000 candidates and employer registration of nearly 10.000, we have placed 50 thousand jobs through our Regional Employment Offices. This number is increasing day by day. We are at least as happy as they are, together with every citizen whose employment we mediate.” CHP Istanbul Deputy Emine Gülizar Emecan also attended the opening, which was attended by hundreds of young people.
