President of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, in his statement on his official Twitter account, stated that the tests of the Şimşek UAV developed by TAI continue successfully and it has gained new capabilities. Iron,

“We continue to work non-stop in the field of innovative technologies. Leaving, controlling and safely taking back another mobile platform other than the mobile platform worked by a number of countries has been successfully carried out in our country. Our ŞİMŞEK drone, which is integrated into ANKA UAV and capable of carrying different payloads, has been successfully dropped to the desired location many times.”

FIRE study from TUSAŞ that can fly a lot and target aircraft at supersonic speed

In the EFES-2022 Combined, Joint Actual Fire Field Exercise, 42 companies took part in the exhibition section created under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). Along with a very important product in the field, there was also the stand of Turkish Aerospace Industries - TUSAŞ.

TAI Deputy General Manager Dr. Ömer Yıldız made special statements to Defense Turk about the ultrasonic target aircraft system, which was at the TAI stand and exhibited for the first time to the public. Yıldız's statements are as follows:

“We need a target aircraft flying at high speed, at supersonic speed. We are developing a faster version of the ŞİMŞEK aircraft you see here, especially for a target aircraft that can simulate high-speed missiles at supersonic speeds. Our goal with this was also to accelerate to supersonic speed. On these aircraft, there is equipment that we call radar cross section enhancer, which can make itself appear larger up to ten square meters.

We can communicate continuously with the link systems on our planes. When we launch our target aircraft over ANKA, the target aircraft can transmit data to the ground at ANKA. This is how we can transmit images from the cameras on our target aircraft to the ground. Our target aircraft, which can currently reach 0.9 mach speeds, is planning to reach 1.1 to 1.4 mach speeds. We can also transfer images from ANKA to the infantry on the ground. Our development work on ŞİMŞEK continues. In this direction, we are working with different engine options and four flights.”
