Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has established a natural gas fuel filling facility that will provide great savings in the fuel cost of environmentally friendly CNG buses. Established at Mersin Intercity Bus Terminal (MEŞOT), the station provides great savings in fuel costs.
87 environmentally friendly vehicles with CNG, serving throughout the city, are refueling from this facility. 4 vehicles refuel at the same time via 4 pumps in as little as 15 minutes. While the station saves the Metropolitan Municipality at a rate of 3/1 compared to the fuel to be purchased from outside, it is aimed to save 43 million liras per year compared to diesel fueled vehicles with the start of service in Mersin with CNG buses.

İbrahim Ceber, CNG Filling Station Supervisor of the Metropolitan Municipality Machinery Supply, Maintenance and Repair Department, said, “As you know, our CNG-powered buses serve our citizens throughout Mersin. Natural gas needed to be supplied for the refueling of these CNG buses. For this, we established our own natural gas station by producing a rational solution under the leadership of our President Vahap Seçer. As of August 2021, our natural gas station was partially operational. We have completed our natural gas station in the first 3 months of this year. In our facility, which was established with a completely modern infrastructure, 4 of our buses are filled with 4 pumps at the same time and refueling takes place in as little as 15 minutes and they continue their journeys. Thanks to our natural gas station, we use 3/1 more economical fuel. On the other hand, we aim to save 43 million liras per year with CNG buses compared to diesel fuel buses.
