Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues to contribute to production and economy by planting safflower on its own 700 thousand square meters of land in Çomaklı District. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they used agricultural drone technology for the first time in the region in order to eliminate the damage caused when entering the field with a tractor, according to the development periods of the plant.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay reminded that they sent the product obtained by planting barley on 700 thousand square meters of land in Meram Çomaklı Mahallesi, which is owned by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, to animal producers affected by the flood disaster in Kastamonu.
Noting that by growing the safflower plant on the same land this year, they both introduced a new plant to the region and aimed to contribute to the oil deficit and economy in our country, President Altay said, “Sowing, fertilization and weed control were carried out under the control of our agricultural engineers who are experts in this field. In our work here, we use agricultural drone technology, which has the advantage of directly affecting the yield of plants during critical periods. According to the development periods of the plant, we eliminate the damage that occurs when the tractor enters the field, and we also introduce agricultural drone technology to the region for the first time. Hopefully, we will use the income we will get after the harvest of the planted products in social supports again.” said.
