Istanbulites Raise Awareness Against Disaster

IMM provides trainings for an earthquake-sensitive and disaster-resilient society at the training centers of the Institute Istanbul İSMEK. In addition to earthquakes, Istanbulites gain awareness in the fight against disasters such as floods, fires and tsunamis. During the trainings that started in April, 3 Istanbul residents have been informed about the risks they may face in disasters.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is organizing 'Disaster Awareness and Strength Unity Seminars' with the aim of increasing disaster awareness and making Istanbul an earthquake-resistant city as of April 2022. Trainings realized with the cooperation of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department and Institute Istanbul İSMEK; Avcılar, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece, Esenyurt, Silivri, Başakşehir, Küçükçekmece, Bağcılar, Esenler, Bahçelievler, Bakırköy, Fatih, Zeytinburnu, Arnavutköy, Eyüpsultan, Gaziosmanpaşa, Sultangazi, Sarıyer, Beyoğlu, Kağıthane, Şişli, Ataşehir, Kadıköy, Kartal, Adalar, Çekmeköy, Üsküdar, Ümraniye, Sancaktepe, Sultanbeyli and Pendik districts were held in 141 separate training centers. During the ongoing training, 3 Istanbul residents have been informed about the risks they may face.

Earthquake, nuclear threat and more

The scope of the Disaster Awareness and Strength Unity Seminar includes information to increase safety in case of earthquakes, floods and fires. The ways to find solutions to the problems encountered and to be resilient against disasters by discovering their own potential are explained. In addition, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear threats (CBRN) and secondary disasters such as tsunamis are also mentioned.
