Is There a Ground Problem in Ankara Sivas High Speed Train Line?

In the statement made by the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) about the latest situation in the Ankara Sivas High Speed Train project, it was stated that there were some disruptions due to the ground, and it was reported that the tender was again made due to the problems experienced in the filling.

THE FLOOR IS PROBLEM

In the statement made by TCDD, it was stated that the superstructure productions were finished as of 2021 in the aforementioned project. The expected settlements in the filling within the elapsed time were completed within the limits and the superstructure productions were also completed in 2014.

As a result of the investigations carried out by Hacettepe University and our organization's expert units for the settlements that emerged with the completion of the superstructure productions, according to the drilling studies carried out in 2011, it was found that the underground water level was 3-4 meters, the climatic conditions changed in the intervening period, etc. It has been determined that the underground water level has decreased to 18 meters due to various reasons. Since this situation causes unexpected settlements, the project has been prepared to eliminate the problem that will not affect the existing superstructure productions.

Considering the special expertise and urgency of the prepared project, contractor companies with high mobilization and expertise skills working in this region were invited to the tender.

WHAT DOES YHT PROJECT COVER?

With the Ankara-Sivas High Speed Train Project, it is planned to operate high-speed trains on the Ankara-Sivas route with a speed of 250 km / h as electric and signaled. Along the route, there will be a total of 8 stations in Elmadağ, Kırıkkale, Yerköy, Yozgat, Sorgun, Akdağmadeni, Yıldızeli and Sivas. The distance between Ankara and Sivas is 603 km, with the completion of the project, the distance between Ankara and Sivas will decrease to 405 km, and the travel time from 12 hours will be 2 hours by YHT.

The Ankara-Sivas YHT Project, with a project length of 393 km, has 930 engineering structures, 49 tunnels, 49 viaducts, 217 under-overpasses, 611 bridges and culverts.

Test and certification studies have been completed in the 315 km Balıseyh-Yerköy-Akdağmadeni-Sivas section of the Ankara-Sivas High Speed Train Project. The superstructure and electromechanical works of the 78 km Kayaş-Balıseyh section between Kayaş-Nenek (km:12-21) have been completed, and the signaling works are continuing. Infrastructure works between Nenek-Kırıkkale (Km:21-75) have been completed, except for the T15 Tunnel (4.595 m). While the superstructure, electrification and signaling productions are completed between Kırıkkale-Balıseyh (km 75-90), studies for signaling software, testing and commissioning continue. Following the completion of the manufacturing, test and certification studies, it is aimed to switch to high-speed train operation between Ankara and Sivas.
