Soil Asphalt Has Been Made in Mimar Sinan Overpass

In the Mimar Sinan Pedestrian Overpass, which is located on the Izmit crossing of the D-100 Highway and has become one of the symbols of the city, sandblasting and stainless painting processes were carried out on the mechanical parts within the scope of maintenance and repair works. The electrical works of the Mimar Sinan Overpass, where asphalting works were carried out on the ground, remained. Bringing the maintenance and repair works on the Mimar Sinan Overpass to the completion stage, the Metropolitan Municipality is now starting work on the Adnan Menderes Overpass.

FLOOR IS WATERPROOF AND NON-SLIP

A thin asphalt layer of 132 cm thick, which is waterproof and non-slip, was laid on the Mimar Sinan Overpass, which has a foot width of 150 meters and a length of 5 meters with its extensions. The asphalt layer made of fine gravel, called zero asphalt, has waterproof and non-slip properties. Sandblasting and stainless painting processes were carried out on the mechanical steel parts of the Mimar Sinan Overpass, which was maintained and repaired by the Metropolitan Municipality and built in 2009. Then, by asphalting the floor, the structural defects were eliminated.

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR STARTED ON ADNAN MENDERES OVERpass

Sandblasting and painting of the steel parts of the Adnan Menderes Overpass, which has become one of the symbol squares of Izmit and connects to the Pişmaniyeciler Square from the Izmit coast, has started. Adnan Menderes Overpass will be open to pedestrian use, as the ground will not be renewed within the scope of the works to be carried out at night. Sandblasting, which is harmful to human health if inhaled, also carries the risk of damaging vehicles. Therefore, the Metropolitan Municipality, which makes the sandblasting process at midnight, will also partially close the traffic and carry out its work.

TURGUT ÖZAL BRIDGE IS NEXT

Structural defects such as rusting and rotting detected in Adnan Menderes and Turgut Özal pedestrian overpasses will be removed with processes such as sandblasting and painting. The Metropolitan Municipality, which maintains and repairs all pedestrian overpasses, especially the Turgut Özal and Adnan Menderes overpasses on the D-100 Highway, uses stainless and protective paints on the overpasses. Within the scope of the maintenance and repair works of the overpasses, 4 thousand square meters of sandblasting, 4 thousand 750 square meters of paint cleaning, 8 thousand 750 square meters of paint, glass replacement, welding, asphalt runway repair, asphalt coating and tartan runway repair works will be carried out.
