Free laundry service for university students started in Bornova. There was great interest in the laundry opened across the Ege University campus. After a short while, free laundries will be put into service in Çiğli and Buca, where student mobility is high. It is aimed to serve 40 thousand students during the year with the laundry, which will be used by students without white goods once a week through the appointment system.

Who can benefit from the service?

Volkan Sert, Social Services Branch Manager of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Social Services Department, said that students can make an appointment through BizIzmir application, “It will be enough to upload student documents and register. We will support our students who do not stay in dormitories, do not live with their families and cannot benefit from laundry service. We plan to serve 13 thousand students a year with the laundry opened in Bornova. With the opening of Çiğli and Buca, we aim for 40 thousand students to benefit from the project within the year.”

Ege University Special Education Teaching student Adem Yiğit said that he was very happy when he heard about the project and said, “We are going through difficult times economically. Especially we students have a hard time. That's why our president's campaigns for young people are so important. We are very happy. I hope more to come. Tickets given at the festival, meals on the subway, free internet, student discounts on transportation are already beneficial for us. Our friends can also benefit from these activities.
