Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu emphasized that as a ministry, they will continue to make environmental investments for a sustainable future and said, “We saved 2003 billion dollars annually with the investments made between 2021 and 28,2 with holistic development. Stating that they are behind every step taken to protect the environment, Karaismailoğlu stated that they aim for environmentalist investments in every mode of transportation, including road, railway, airline and ports.

Expressing that by reducing travel times on highways, saving on fuel, time and carbon emissions is achieved, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that natural life is also protected with ecological bridges built on highways and roads.

Noting that environmental projects stand out not only in highways but also in railways, Karaismailoğlu said, “We built the first ecological railway bridge in the world on the Ankara-Eskişehir High Speed ​​​​Train Line to support natural life. In addition, we accelerated the efforts to electrify existing conventional lines due to the fact that they provide more traction power with less energy and ease of maintenance, low emission emissions during electric operation and similar factors. As of today, we have electrified 13 kilometers, ie 22 percent, of all TCDD lines with a total line length of 5 thousand 986 kilometers. We aim to meet 47 percent of the energy consumed by TCDD in the medium term from renewable energy sources, primarily solar and wind. With the zero waste project, we both prevent greenhouse gas emissions and save energy.”
