Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that Rize Artvin Airport, which was built on the sea fill and is one of the few in the world, is not an example in Europe and said, "While designing our airport, we benefited a lot from the tea culture and local architecture, which are an integral part of life in our region."

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu spoke at the opening ceremony of Rize Artvin Airport. Karaismailoğlu said, "This beautiful day will be an unforgettable start for our Rize and Artvin provinces, as well as for our Black Sea and our country," said Karaismailoğlu, adding that during the governments led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the annual number of airline passengers increased from 30 million to 210 million, and that airports are a growing, developing, global power. He said that they feel the justified pride of making it a showcase of Turkey, which is taking firm steps towards becoming a world leader.

Underlining that Rize Artvin Airport, which is one of the few in the world built on the sea fill, is not an example in Europe, Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows;

“We are presenting our country's second airport, which is the work of Turkish engineers and employees using advanced engineering solutions, to the world's transportation, trade and tourism. This work of ours is beyond being an economic value for Turkey; It is a concrete example of how our advanced engineering capabilities are at scale that shines a light on the world. Our source of inspiration, our glorious history full of epics, the beliefs and values ​​of our beloved nation, as well as its customs and traditions, have been our source of inspiration, while we were projecting gigantic works that will carry our country to the future under your leadership. While designing our airport, we benefited greatly from the tea culture and local architecture, which are an integral part of life in our region.”
