TCDD Engineer Abdullah Öztürk Receives His Award

Working as an engineer at the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), Abdullah Öztürk won the first prize in the playwriting competition organized by the State Theatres, with the theme "Women in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic". Abdullah Öztürk, who won the first prize with his play “Holden's Cinderella”, was presented with the award by Özgül Özkan Yavuz, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Mustafa Kurt, General Manager of State Theatres.

The award ceremony of the playwriting competition themed “Women in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic” organized by the State Theaters took place on Monday, May 16. In addition to the award-winning writers, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Özgül Özkan Yavuz, the General Manager of the State Theaters Mustafa Kurt and the directors, actors, writers and dramaturgs of the State Theaters attended the ceremony held at the General Directorate of State Theaters. The award was given to Abdullah Öztürk, the engineer staff of the Department of Railway Modernization, who won the first prize with the play “Holden's Cinderella” in the competition, by Özgül Özkan Yavuz, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Mustafa Kurt, General Manager of State Theatres.

Who is Abdullah Ozturk?

Born in Sivas in 1986, Abdullah Öztürk graduated from Erciyes University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department in 2010 and from Ankara University DTCF Theater / Dramatic Writing Department in 2021. Abdullah Öztürk's play "Vase", who is still working in the Department of Railway Modernization, won the "2020 National Theater Stage Work Competition" with his play "The Last Station" in the "14. Aydın Üstüntaş Traditional Playwriting Competition and his play “The Last Kick” was deemed worthy of an award in the “2020 Suat Taşer Short Play Competition”.
