Pascal Deyrolle, General Manager of Venice Simplon Orient Express Company, came to TCDD Transportation General Directorate to discuss the 2022 “Orient Express” program.
Deyrolle, who had a meeting with the Passenger Department officials, visited TCDD Transportation General Manager Hasan Pezük before the meeting.
He said that the Orient Express left very important traces in the countries it passed through, that the train, which had been operating uninterruptedly for many years, took a break for 3 years due to the pandemic, and that it would meet its passengers in August this year and come to Istanbul. He stated that he was amazed by the hospitality he saw every time he came to Turkey.
TCDD Transportation General Manager Hasan Pezük stated that they are happy to host Pascal Deyrolle and his team and said: “The railway not only connects countries, but also creates a cultural friendship bridge, Orient Express has been a bridge between East and West for centuries, mediating cultural exchange. Orient Express has an important place in our railway history, we must strive to pass it on to future generations.” said.
Inspired by books and movies, the Orient Express carries passengers on one of the world's best-known routes, including Istanbul. The train, which has been carrying passengers between Paris and Istanbul for years, will be in Istanbul at the end of August with 15 wagons of passengers.
