New drivers are also joining the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department's growing and rejuvenating public transportation fleet. Recently, 137 bus drivers recruited began to receive "Advanced Driving Techniques Training" by the Metropolitan Municipality Human Resources and Training Department.

Drivers are trained for friendly service and safe travel

A total of 137 bus drivers recruited in April and May in the Metropolitan, in groups of 25, put their theoretical training in Macit Özcan Facilities into practice in the parking lot next to Mersin Stadium. The drivers, who gained a lot of information from communication with passengers in the theoretical trainings to what should be considered in traffic, had the opportunity to better know the capacity and features of the vehicles they use in the practical trainings.

“We put those who pass the training successfully behind the wheel”

Providing information about the ongoing trainings, Fatih Yaldız, the Training Driver at the Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department, said, “Our public transportation is growing rapidly. We have 137 newly recruited drivers. We transfer the training process given to us to them. We take those who successfully pass the training to our buses. We put those who could not complete their education behind the wheel so that they can continue their education and provide safe and friendly service when they reach the level of other friends.”

“We promote their vehicles, we enable them to use their vehicles without causing an accident”

Traffic Accidents Prevention Driving Techniques Instructor Ömer Şen stated that they gave a lot of information from vehicle and brake control to maneuvering and entry-exit techniques in corners in the theoretical training, and said, “We apply the same training in practice with the drivers in the field. In this way, we are trying to complete the deficiencies related to driving the vehicle correctly. Our trainings are generally enjoyable. The drivers say they learned a lot here. We promote their vehicles, we enable them to use their vehicles without causing any accident. Bus drivers drive long hours. Knowing their vehicle and knowing its capacity provides a safer driving for them.”

“I saw that these trainings increased my driving skills”

Murat Kutalcı, one of the drivers, stated that he has been a driver for 16 years and started to work as a bus driver in the Metropolitan Municipality and said, “I believe that I will provide a better service to our citizens after the training I received. We are currently receiving advanced driving techniques training. I saw that these trainings increased my driving skills. "I believe education is essential," he said.

“We will be able to provide people with a healthier and safer driving”

Erdal Kocaman, one of the drivers, noted that they received theoretical training on what to pay attention to in traffic and communication with the passenger, and said, “We moved on to practical trainings such as advanced driving training. For example, we were able to get to know our vehicle better. When this training is completed, we will be able to provide people with a healthier and safer driving.”
